Q: Is it really worth installing a new F18 battery (recommended somewhere here) to try and salvage my Croma?

I own an 05 issue 1.9 diesel multijet since July 2009. In this time I have put up with broken external passanger handles, broken boot handles and Failure of central locking every day it falls below 0 degrees. But the power steering has intermitently failed since 1 month in and due to s&*t warranty I have had to pay out my pocket.
So far this has meant alternator(£330), battery(£90) and Power steering pump (£750) on top of usual wear and tear discs and tyres. A year after new sttering pump it's steering has just failed again and being unmechanical I am not loving the idea of continuing to being taken for a ride when the problem is not going to be resolved. I mean this new part has only done around 9000 miles before the problem reoccurs!!
FFS are Fiat making cars that can't cope with our climate cause it's tends to be darkest winter that does the damage.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel or is it a fire? :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:
Turn speed sensor errors and battery voltage errors reappearing so they keep replacing parts but don't permanently fix the problem!

If you've already fitted a new battery then I doubt that's the cause, but it might be worth having a look at it to ensure it has a high enough capacity, i.e. within the specs listed for the Croma. If not then ask the garage who fitted it why not.

Considered going to a different garage? In my experience Fiat dealers don't seem to know much about Cromas, as they aren't really Fiats. It might be worth trying to find an independent garage that specialises in Vauxhalls.

I get narked that many garages don't seem to diagnose problems, but just replace parts starting with the most likely until the problem goes away. This not only saves them time but also means they take more money off you, so a win-win for them.
