Have been living with a couple of niggly noises for some time with no obvious solutions. Thing is they vary from not there to being present and something in between.
First occurs when taking a bend requiring reasonable amount of lock (either way) tinny scraping sound that disappears on straightening up.

Second sounds like a piece of trim rattling in the boot but having ridden in the boot it appears to come from underneath. The rattle isn't in sync with suspension and can occur on smooth roads. It disappeared for some time after carrying a heavy load, Now it's on and off.
Anybody any ideas. Don't think either is serious just annoying.
Anyone any ideas

The scraping sound is easy - it's the dustshields for the bottom balljoints. Jack up the car, remove the front wheel, place a large screwdriver each side of the dustshield and bend it away from the disc. Put the wheel back on and repeat for the other side.

As for the rear noise - do let me know if you find it, I've had one of those for the last 57,000 miles. I've replaced the rear anti-roll bar bushes, drop links and top suspension arms so far. Admittedly it has quietened down considerably since I changed the top suspension arms, but it's still there now and then.

Could even be something like a heatshield or misaligned exhaust I suppose, but my personal belief is that the Croma is protesting at having GM bits fitted :D On a more serious note, some people have found that this kind of noise can be caused by a broken rear spring so it might be worth checking your 'pigtails' are still intact...

From my personal vehicle service log that I keep:

"Located and fixed creeking noise after returning from Italy
Cross member support section for rear seats, O/S, where it meets the inner
wheel arch had a broken spot weld and the metal surfaces were grating together.
Eased flange out to adequately clear wheel arch and thus not able to grate."

If you man handle the cross member, pushing, pulling etc. on either side you may be able to recreate the noise IF your problem is similar. This cross member is not structural and of thin guage steel. I my case I put the spot weld break due to excessive chassis twist caused by going round the inside tight and steep hairpin bends in the Dolomite mountains.

Worth a look. Took me a while to find. Every time I jumped in the rear seat, whilst the boss drove, to listen and try and find the noise it ceased due to my weight.
