Well as the title says... Ive got a k&n induction kit which is a couple of years old now and could do with a clean & oil. Ive not got any instructions so wondered how to go about it. Do i brush it with a toothbrush or what?? Also ive not got the oil your supposed to put on it so what can i use? Any helps appreciated(y)

cheers uno 94, got it! Looks like i'll have to buy the kit. I was thinking about a bit of fairy liquid and a bit of olivio! Dave, theres no BMC kit available for the 20vt otherwise i would have done exactly what you said and then jumped of a cliff!!

God knows?? if all i have to spend is another 10 quid instead of another 80 i'll be happy :) Surely they're all the same anyway, hoover noises and a bit of a 'woo whats that' when the bonnet goes up:cool:

BMC are universal, there are plenty of Coupe's with them fitted. Re your problem, just buy a K+N filter cleaning kit from halfrauds or from ebay. It's really easy and the filter goes back to a healthy purple afterwards
Just one tip - don't saturate the filter with the oil, otherwise it gunks up the air flow sensor and causes problems. A good few squirts all round is enough.

wash the filter in soap and water.rinse thourghly after.let it dry and lightly cover the filter with the correct oil.oil is about £5.ive washed loads of these filters.reason ive done it,is K&N are not far from me.i spoke to a bloke there and he told me not to bother with the cleaning fluid.just use either soap or fairy liquid.you can also use a grease dispersant like WD40.i would stick with fairy liquid.:)

K&N Cleaning Page said:
NEVER USE Automatic Transmission Fluid
NEVER USE Motor Oil
NEVER USE Diesel Fuel
NEVER USE WD-40, LPS, or other light weight oils.

I'd use what they told me but... its your kit and your engine at the end of the day.

warning though, wear a face mask when spraying the K&N cleaning stuff on as it really is a bit toxic.
