Just fitted a G.Tec chip an hour ago, It is set for 1.2 bar max. I have a PRV set at 1 bar so Not getting the full potential.
The car felt a little more aggresive, maybe down to the fueling remap? I need to set my PRV to 1.2 bar then a true report can be wrote.
Also, The car feels so damn fast now that it's fixed it's impossible to tell if the chip has made much difference

Yes - but without the 1.4 overboost!
I am a bit biased - I published a thread about my coupe problem - basically since purchase my coupe has never realised it's full potential.
GrahamL (G-Tec) sent me a coil pack and a chip and My coop has been an animal since.
I saved god knows how much , I had my 20vt booked into a coop specialist in N.Wales (Meredith and Kirkham) at £40 P/H
When Graham sent me a coil pack and chip for free to try out.
The simple answer is this:
The coil pack was at fault (last one from the right hand side) and the chip made the coop behave like an animal, 0-60 is despatched well within 6 secs, And I accelerated to 150 mph before chickening out on a Dual carriageway
We love you GrahamL, £60 is on it's way...

(Coil pack and G-Tec)

sammi - My advice is contact GrahamL and ask Him about a G-Tec. My car has turned into some ravenous monster, It has really made quite a difference. It's a cheap and effective way to get more power. I went for the 1.2 bar chip as I have a hile miler and don't want to blow the poor coop!
I think does em for about £35. Just don't blame me if your turbo goes! (I don't think it will if you don't go above 1.2) (y)

The G-Tec 1.2bar should overboost to 1.4bar but no more. The original Novitec is much more wild with overboost reaching 1.7-1.8bar which while not too serious for a short burst could lead to some problems. Some guys have been running the Novitec for a few years without problem. I, on the other hand, have been running the G-Tec now for 9 months (originally with a PRV set to 1.2bar) but I removed that and replaced the EBV as this allows better protection from the ecu safety parameters. I get perfect boost with a slight surge to 1.4bar (never more) which drops back to 1.2bar steady. The fueling has been checked twice and it's just right :)

I'm sticking with the PRV so no overboost to 1.4! You are right about less protection that the ebv offers. My car just felt jerky on the EBV. I also don't want my boost limited in first and second (does the G-Tec cure this?)

The boost limit in 1st & 2nd is removed with the G-Tec but you will also find that it was there for good reason ;) If your car felt jerky while running the EBV then it may simply need a clean and lube. The EBV has a habit of sticking as it gets older especially when running higher boost... I would give it a try :) The only jerky feeling I get is when the car is cold and the boost can kick in very strongly due to lower charge temps, as soon as it is warmed up it's very smooth with boost being delivered in a controlled manner (except for the lovely kick which you will loose somewhat with the PRV ;) )

mmm, when I get my boost gauge off santa I will have a play with the two and decide. I Still have the EBV fitted on the car, albeit bunged up to avoid ingress of any dirt.
I likes to experiment (y)

Just contact GrahamL on the other forum and discuss what you want and he will make recommendations. He only charges £35 for peeps that use the forum, and his chips don't overboost as much as the more expensive Novitec chip.
