Everyone still use P2P? I did since pretty much the start of napster (before it got famous because some random guy told me about it, in the days you could probably have downloaded EVERYTHING on it to your HDD before they started counting the files in terabytes etc.!) I even was banned and nearly charged for copyright theft as about a 14 year old for downloading Metallica (very scary at the time for me!). From that point onwards however, I understood why it is wrong.

Downloading using them right now is not only wrong but a bit of a dodgy area, aren't you all worried about the massive US clamp down on it which could easily come here, leading you into big troubles?

Kazaa Lite is pretty hard to trace, surely. I know I have a different IP everytime I log in, and at no stage have I disclosed my email, only a user name! I know it includes some Spyware that you must download and use, but that is the only allowable one my machine lets through. Think the full version gets rid of that too!

But Stuart, everytime you log on your dynamic IP has to be registered to your name and because Kazaa works on IP's, tracing your name, address etc. is as easy as going to Mr BT/AOL/NTL/Blueyonder etc. and saying "Who was connection to IP XXX.XXX.X.X at 19:17 on 11/2/04" "Stuart Ash" "thank you".

Well, not quite as easy but you get the idea. I am not telling you off or anything, i think that this is a personal issue on how you feel about it, it's not going to risk somebody's life unlike speeding (which is what I will tell you off for!). Having been fairly close to the law over it I am scared to death to do it again - and never will. It hasn't taken long for large charges to be brought against some people in the USA so I always warn my friends against it now - not that they listen very often!

But Kazaa itself is not illegal to use, because a lot of the stuff on there is freeware/shareware/pay to download, etc.

If people are out there downloading illegal copies, keygens, cracks, etc, that is the risk they take. What logs are there to prove that? I don't really know, to be honest with you. If they do trace my IP and linked name, what else can they find out? Yes, "Mr Ash was using Kazaa", but is that all?

I appreciate your advice, Paul, after all you must have bricked it. Glad I only download freeware

BTW, I do admit to speeding, but only in Nationals - restricted sites are a no-no, unless being provoked!!!!

Well, it takes me a while to get used to these things and being fairly indecisive, quite possibly!!! At £515 (I have no older version), I do really feel that they are pricing themselves out of the market!

Do you realise that that is nearly twice what we paid for my car... no wonder P2P is so heavily used!

I thought £100, no more, I am seriously "gob smacked"!

It's no wonder that out of the 10 people I asked today with photoshop, zero had it legally! I then realised I am the only one in the year without photoshop lol.

After all this, I actually haven't got a copy of PS on this machine. I just tend to use Microsoft Picture It, which ain't great, but good enough for touching up. Plus it is a legal copy, like ALL my software. Ahem.....
