to Dave; unintentional of course. I don't believe my mass piracy of 1 recorded DVD from digital TV of the Office and an avatar :p!

Should I change it, in all honesty? You know what I am like, I hate doing anything wrong and now won't sleep! (you're wrong if you think I am joking lol). Also, I am only 0.25 Polish lol.

I built this system from scratch, mainly used Dabs and Scan. If I recall, got all my OEM software [Norton, XP Pro, Works] from Scan Computers, but had to buy a hard-drive in same order [I already had motherboard from Dabs]. Well worth it :)

Alrighty, but I will rely on this as my defence if it goes to court![:0]

Ok, Polish Paul will do, just didn't want to seem to be a liar to people!

I remember seeing a company selling OEM software with a 14.4kbps modem I think, (worth ~£3?) just so they could get away with it, not sure if that is allowed however? Maybe it was on ebay, it was a while back.

Hmmm, here is the XP Pro I bought

I think they were pushing it with the modem! Scan are a good company. Also bought this iiyama Prolite E511S monitor from them, in black - very nice!

Oh.. word of advice, I know you'll all say it's not trackable etc etc.. But Adobe regulaly monitor sites that promote pirate cds and copying.

Its a rule on my site's forum not to mention it at any time.

thats what i thought, so i had to go with the student one, then a week later i had to buy a harddrive for someone so i could have got an OEM instead, with the copy i have i have to activate it within 30 days of installing it, i don't think you have to do that with the OEM one do you?

No, OEM is exactly the same as the full price version, you just don't get a nice shiny blue box with it. Still had to go through the activation process as normal.

And I saved about £160 - but then I wouldn't have gone down Pro road, and stuck to Home version.

So, is Home more unstable than Pro? What version you on, Dr Pepper? Even if one thing stops responding on Pro, I can still shut down that process and continue as normal.

Yeah mine is XP Home but then I know at least a couple of people who've had no problems with it. The main problem with mine is that if something does happen you're screwed there's no chance of shutting down individual processes like I used to with my older (95 then ME) computers. It seems to depend how lucky you are!

I know the girls in the office downstairs use Home edition [fully licenced, this is a business you know]. The network I keep upstairs is a mix/match of 98 SE/ME - how many times a day do I have to reboot this laptop. BUT I think it is down to lack of resources - this machine can only multitask so much.

I run XP Pro on 1Gb Mem, so maybe that helps. I think it is really stable, compared to other Microsoft o/s, plus I can run so much on it at same time.

Maybe you need to do a reformat and start again? Bit drastic. Do you also keep it updated?

No sadly it's done that almost from new, update-wise I've got it on auto download so I should have them all. This PC is only 6months old but I don't think the Uni always on internet does it any favours in terms of stuff downloaded intentionally or otherwise!

Just seen that Dabs are now selling Adobe Photoshop Elements for £49.99.

Anyone know how good this is compared to other similarly priced products. I presume it does a lot lot less than the full-priced Photoshop CS.

at the end of the day if everyone is using p2p to download stuff are they going to arrest everyone?
if they did that then their would be about 5 users worldwide who have bought the license for their copies. and one of them would be the instigator for copying it in the first place. its not like its making the fat cats bankrupt now is it?
