New Cento Website - TeamCento

Iv got the same problem I think it's your photo that do's it but that's another story

I have seen the Lurking I'm also very naughty when it comes to this I do it on Fiat Forum all the time and get fascinated with the amount of post on all the fiats so much going own and new things to learn about the new Fiats that are in the show rooms my brain starts to hurt...

So I should post on here more but I live a very dizzy life working for myself trying to get my workshop back up and running and development work has taken a step backwards but we will be back on a race track soon with something different in the pipe line coming out of the stable.

:)

I want to make it clear that me starting this site is NOT in anyway to cause trouble between the Fiat Forum and any other Cento related website.

Dragonstone, I understand where you are coming from and yes, it would look like I am trying to steel Cento-Rebels thunder. This is not any intention of mine and never was. You can ask Alex or Luke if ive been playing with this idea on and off for ages as they have both seen my prototypes many times.

I use and will continue to use Cento-Rebels regardless of whether Team:Cento takes off or makes any impact on the community. I have simply started it as I had empty webspace that I am paying for and I fancied putting my web design skills to something useful. The reason for choosing Centos as a subject is that I know alot about them and feel I could share my knowledge through a website.

If you really feel let down by me starting this website then let me know and I will consider dropping it. I dont want to be pushed out of yet another forum...

Can I ask why this all taken so silly we all drive Fiats. I love all fiat drivers anyone can start a site who cares Fiat forum is number one I love this site
and have made loads of mates on it.

I have worked on Fiats way before forums have been around was playing with them at the same time the ZX81 came out and was at car shows even then.

So why all the rubbish that go's on anyone is welcome on cento-rebels I even go out of my way to promote good working relationships with other forums working together with events.

I'll try to help anyone with anything but still we get this oh it him from that forum rubbish..

All the other forums are linked form my site even frogbits and my membership know where to get there parts from I also have trade accounts with other suppliers that our membership can use if need be but I have been in the car trade 30 years 20 years working on Fiats..

anyway have a look at using joomla and fireboard for your site Chris works very well together but think quick as its quite hard to convert phpbb2 forums over but I have done it twice now Im also glade you did not go the free forum way as that is so much hard work to sort out if you wont to move on to your own site...

Ive already looked into joomla and it was actually one of my prototypes. I like phpbb as its free and easy to use and modify. I also ran a prototype with a portal linked into phpbb which worked well. May do the same again but the portal lacked the ability to link into anything else (such as galleries and news posting apps etc.).

Joomla seems to be an all round good CMS but so do a number of others. may look into it again but will need to restart the forum etc. Although there are mods to link joomla with an existing phpbb, how successful they are, i dont know

Lets talk about TeamCento and what Chris is going to do then Chris over to you mate...tell us more

Iv used the phpbb joomla bridge and the coppermine gallery from the Russian mans site http://www.mehdiplugins.com/misc/index.htm was very good but took a right load of setting up having all 3 users database in the same one and could prove to have lots of little bugs going on. I then dumped the phpbb2 bridge out of it and used the joomla community builder add on I found still keeping the cpg gallery set up as it was this was a little better but found if I wonted to hack any php code to the forum nothing would work for me what soever due to all the Bridging and mysql a right headache so the bold move was put in to place to convert the phpBB2 to joomlaboard something that had been but was quite hard to get right backed it all up and tested our back up top make sure it worked before going ahead..

Was happy to say I had a 95% success on the first go only had to convert something like 3'000 posts with the users name as they had shown up with just the users mysql data base number but with the help of the sites admin team we got over this in about 4 days a bit at a time... Thats why Im thinking you ned to get a plan sorted out quite quick if you wonted to keep your posts from the phpBB2 forum and save your self a lot of hard work..

SMF I like very much also very easy to convert to a joomla site and like Joomla free. if you would some space to play around with joomla I can load it up to my server and you can see how it all works Chris...

Fireboard is a new thing that is going on and looks very much like SMF but is 100% working with joomla and most of the folks that had been working on Joomlaboard have now gone over to development work for this...

There is nothing to smooth over Chris this is only a discussion and all are invited to CR's run to Sun and as we are not just a cinquecento club there are lot of other clubs and forums that are invading Barry Island on the day Im just sorting it all out beforehand regarding the carpark and beach before the invite comes on to this forum...
