please Help.

my 2001 MPI seicento wont idle. it starts fine, will idle for a few minutes then completly die.
i recently replaced battery, starter, alternator, and cam sensor. the car was also jump started, would this have destroyed the cat?
any help much appreciated, Edward.

On MPI, there is no rad temp sensor, just the coolant sensor, and the rad is controlled by ECU via the one temperature sensor. There is one other sensor that seems to measure heater output tempertaure, but thats it.

My point being, if ARC thinks it may be the temp sensor, firstly, does the rad kick in before it dies? If so I think the sensor would be fine.

Bump start is fine from cold, not from hot though, as it may screw the cat. Jump start is fine from warm or cold so no worries there.

Did this stuff happen RIGHT after you replaced bits, or at a later time, not long after?

Sounds to me like some problem with the warm cycle, switching over from cold start. If the engine is warm, will it start at all?

yes and no. The temp sensor on an MPi doesn't just run the fan, it also controls the fuelling.

I, however, would be looking at the lambda. The car runs open loop until the lambda heates up. There is a heater in the lambda so it doesn't take too long to heat up, and going closed loop may be the problem.

If its nothing obvious, as above. then.....

Basically it needs its codes read.

Cheers
