Ok slowly at my college, more and more of us are getting cinq and sei's, we're now at 4 cinq and 1 sei. the other 3 only have the regular cinq or maybe even an cinq S, I'm the only one with a SX hehehe....electric windows away!!!!!

But my point of this topic. I know this person who's just got her cinq and is claiming to being able to put it in 5th at 25mph without any problems at all.

I daren't say anything to her, as usually it doesn't go down well but is that even possible for a N reg 0.9 cinq. I mean appart from the labouring problems on the engine, the fact you'd get no acceleration and be using lots of fuel, I'd still expect her to notice the chugging of the car when she brings the clutch up?

I dare not say it but I think she's getting 3rd and 5th mixed up, but before I do go get myself smacked in the face I thought I better check to see if anyone else can get there 899cc into 5th at 25mph with no problems (lowest I dare get it is 35 but once it's in I can go to 30 without labouring the engine)

Maybe I miss heared the girl, but i didn't think so

she'd be luckY!

i can barely hold it in fourth at that speed... i found that the best way to drive Geoff is to rev the s**te off him in every gear... seems to work fine!

God I love Cinqs.

You can kiss my flat-ass

I think she's getting 3rd and 5th confussed, but she's only just passed, saying that when I learnt in a 1.6 ford focus i never got to use 5th gear, ony once I passed my test did I get to see 5th on my pass plus course......then 18 days after that i got my cinq hehe and I thought I was the luckist student alive with central locking and electric windows and it had half a tank in it hehe

I've got a Cinq Sporting, so I know its not the same as the lasses 899cc Cinq that ur talking about.

I often put my car into 5th in a 30mph zone, and don't really have a problem, but I must admit I onlt do it on the flat, any sort of incline and the mph just drop off even with the accelerator floored. at this speed in 5th the car is just gut-less.

My point, yeah U can drive in 5th at 30mph, as long as its on a flat smooth road, (well you can in mine anyways), but I VERY much doubt you'd be able to do the same in an 899cc Cinq.

Ask any racer, any real racer, it don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning!

My Cinq SX used to run in 5th gear at that speed but with almost no acceleration.

Smurfhead - would trade as Gaz but bit confusing with another guy with the same car on here with the same name. lol

It certainly shouldn't be done, whether it's possible or not. The fuel consumption will probably be high, it won't do the engine much good and in an emergancy the only thing that can change her speed will be the brakes. No engine braking and no acceleration [V]

She's a girl, they're not supposed to be able to drive properly :D

Well I normally get my 1108 Sei Sporting into 5th around 35mph and changed down at 30-25 mph or when the revs are going to 1500rpm.

It easily does 30mph in 3rd and 40mph in 4th ain't bad so 25mph in 5th might be excessive on an 899cc engine.

I did the change to 5th at 20mph in my SX, havent tried in the Sporting yet...it managed OK, but really didnt like it:D

Snapped exhaust flexipipe becoming GrpN ASAP!

I nearly always drive at 35mph in 5th, when doing 30 I change down to 4th.
