Hi guys,
my first post!:D
Had a cinq since august, been running fine till a few weeks ago.
sometimes it wouldnt start after a journey, long, short didnt matter, pinpointed it to too much fuel in carb. And so took the fuel pipe off turned it over , put it back in and hey presto! Have done this about 5 times in the last week .Had everything checked over by my mechanic on saturday ,he gave by the injector a clean.
But today was coming back from college and it stalled twice in traffic, the second time couldnt restart, had to get a tow. Nearly home and tried to bump start while being towed and it started. But everytime I turn it off i am scared it wont start next time.;)
Could this be the lambda?

Thanks for the help

Ross

Highly unlikely to be the Lambda, as its not in use during starting.

Sounds like the injection is overdoing the enrichment, or the ignition is not working. Ignition is easy to check if you pop a spare spark plug in the door pocket, may narrow the cause down abit.

Cheers

could be a problem with the auto choke flooding, not going off when the engine is warm i would try two things first i would disconnect the battery for an hour or so to reset the it might not be telling the choke to turn off, if that dosent work i would get a can of carb and choke cleaner and clean the carb it might be dirty and the choke is sticking

One problem, it doesn't have a choke. The ECU automatically meters extra fuel according to air and coolant temp on startup.

Best bet is, to take it to a FIAT garage and get them to run a diagnostics on the ecu, and they'll pinpoint the exact fault before you start spending on parts it may not need

Hi guys,
thanks for the replys.
have booked a diagnostic check, shame it is a 1/2 hour drive away, but it needs to be fixed. will report back when i know what it is.

Don't know if this is too late mate but if it's a half hour drive to your nearest Fiat dealer I would get a mobile tuning company to do it for you.

I recently had a similar problem and got a local guy to do it. £60 and he took me right through all the tests it does while he was doing them (can't see Fiat doing that!). It was v.educational. It will do tests on all the sensors, the injectors, fuel pump, stepper motor, and about a gazillion other things. It was a shade cheaper that what the dealer wanted and it was done at my house.

Look in the Yellow Pages under engine tuning.

Slow in... fast out!

hi guys,
thanks for the replys, the fiat garage said it was the rpm sensor, they had to order it in though so wont get it back till thursday:(.

hi guys,
due to problems- crash/fire on the motorway, large amounts of snow and no time off work, didnt get it back till saturday.[V]
Think the diagnostic was about 30-40 quid and the sensor was 25, plus labour equaled just over the ton![:(!]
nevermind at least it seems to work now:)
