Hi all. Does anyone know the correct gearbox oil quantity? Haynes says 2.4litres - I can only get 1.5 in!

just pour it in till it runs out of the filler hole.

Yes, I know it seems obvious, (and not surprising Haynes are wrong), but I thought there might be an odd casting inside thats giving me a false level. Better safe then sorry....Ta

I am going to be doing the same job next weekend, so if the quantity is definitly less then that will save me some head scratching too.

Fill it to the level, then leave it for a while. Try refilling a bit later. Gear oil is like treacle and can stick to the filling side, rather than continue into the box and diff area.

Obvously the car needs to be level too.
