my radio reception is pants, whats the causes?.

could be a number of things, rubbish HU for example, the poor weather as well could be a factor.

When i used to have a bit of a poor reception, i adjusted my aerial to a more vertical stance

Could be a loose aerial, HU problem, aerial problem, loads of things..............

Clean up the connections between the aerial and it's base as well, they can start to corrode and give poor reception.

replaced the head unit with the old sony from my Alfa, no better..
moved up the ariel to be more vertical, no better..
will try cleaning the ariel base now.. is it easy to get at/out?

IIRC I just unscrewed the aerial and then theres either a couple more screws in ther or you can just take it apart, not too sure as it was a while back. But its easy enough to do.

Is the aerial lead touching the barbehind the dash at all? I tie wrapped mines to this bar and radio reception went crap but it was fine before.

it was tie rapped to that bar but i undid it and fed it down the sill trim and back.. but no better
