Right another stinker for you?

Is the ECU immobiliser hardware held in the ECU box - (eg: written into the software on the chips inside the ECU.) Or is it held in another box inside the car?

Once I read the code from my 1242 ECU and compare that to my 899cc, I can tell if it has an immobiliser! Or at least that's what i'm thinking

Cheers

Ill think of something witty....just wait and see............wait I might not.

Oh right. Thought so, Ye olde Haynes gave no info on code blocks- and my research was finding that its in the chip anyhoo.

Well, I'm looking at a wiring diagram for a reader- I plan to analyse the code between a 899cc Non Immobiliser ECU and a 1242cc Unknown ECU.

I can get a writer put together without much difficulty I should imagine, that can write new mapped chips.

If it's any use, Superchips place a blocker board between the PCB and chip to prevent any unauthorised reading. I have a spare superchip remapped 1242 chip (minus blocker board - that's in my ecu), but it's no use to me as the immob code is different to mine. If you want it, a fiver inc P&P?

Pete.
