Hi all
Stripped the rear brakes to change the shoes only to be confronted by rust, rust and more rust. Cleaned it up but the handbrake actuators are completely seized. No amount of WD40 or any other penetrating fluid is making any difference at all.
Been looking online but I can't seem to find the actuators for sale anywhere.
Any ideas where I might be able to obtain new ones?
Once I get them I'll have great fun attempting to remove rusted in, rounded bolts holding the cylinder on...

Any help gratefully appreciated :)

Thanks guys. I wasn't looking with the right title. I called them actuators, not levers. Doh...

Seriously, much appreciated :slayer:

UPDATE: Well, still awaiting parts..... Managed to source actuators or levers, whatever you want to call them and they arrived today. New handbrake cable arrived yesterday. Just awaiting new cylinders and shoes plus fitting kit.

Also, tried to remove hub nut. 4ft breaker bar and 30mm socket. Not a chance. Going to need heat to shift that which will inevitably ruin the bearing, more expense. Can't shift the slave cylinder bolts either, they're old and rusty and very round, so I'm stuck as to how to get the old levers off and the new ones on. As for the brake pipe attachment...

So it's looking like I'm going to have to tie up the slave cylinder to get the ruddy wheel back on to drive to a garage with all the parts and pay a spanner monkey with a windy gun huge amounts of cash to do a relatively (on paper) simple job that I SHOULD be able to do myself. Oh well...:bang:

Oh, the joys of old cars.

The slave cylinder bolts may be able to be drilled from behind. The drill only has to penetrate a few mm and that (if the drill turns clockwise, looking from behind) might loosen the screws. Use Plusgas and a bit of heat. The cylinder is getting replaced anyway...

The wheel nut.. you need a longer bar, that's all.. :D Stick some Plusgas on it and let it soak. If it's any consolation, Seicento wheel bearings don't last long and yours might be shot anyway. New ones are not too dear, compared to spanner monkey's charge to do it.

You can change the levers with out removing the hub bearing. As the levers are siezed you will have to use a hammer to help move the levers in correct position to get them out.
