Right so ive just got myself a 2001 Fiat Seicento that has been sat for about a year. I charged the battery and managed to start it, i let it run for a bit and then decided to see if it moved.
Every time i put it in to gear and try to dive it just stalls out no matter what, ive tried different ways to set off more gas or less but it just stalls, it tries to move but just dies.:bang: please help.
i just want to know if anyone has a fix before i take it to a garage would be a big help.
Thanks

It moves fine when its pushed, just not when you tried to actually drive it aha.
apparently the guy at had it before said it would only go in reverse but it seems like nothing works now.

So the brakes can't be stuck on them at least

Does the engine sound like it's running correctly no misfires or anything?

surprisingly the engine runs fine, revs fine and goes in to gear fine it just doesn't want to set off.

Will it move forward by pushing the car, while it is in gear,(engine off)Try in all gears, fourth will be easier to push than when in first. Gear box or diff could be locked up. Does it stall cos it feels like the wheels are locked,

I would say yes it does feel like the wheels are locked up it’s just hard to tell because the way it jolts didn’t feel like a normal stall, it kicks abit more.

If I am able to I’ll add a video or pictures of what the car is doing next time I’m at the garage that it’s kept at.

Ok.jack one front wheel up off the ground.now try to set off in gear. Either 1: the engine stalls 2: the car moves forward. 3: the wheel off the ground spins(only this is the correct one)?

I can’t get to the car till Monday now so I’ll try it then and get back to you

Update:
It drives fine in reverse but when you put it in first it will set off with a little bit of throttle but as soon as I try to put abit more throttle on it just stutters like it’s stalling out.
Also now the car won’t start and I think it may be the fuel pump.. any ideas?

It won't start because it's probably flooded. You need to take the plugs out and dry them off, then when you re-start, use a fairly big throttle opening.

The cutting out sounds weird so you have to go back to basics;

Start the car and slowly rev it to around 3000rpm. If the transition from idle to fast idle is smooth then the engine fuelling and ignition is okay. If it splutters and cuts out then it could be a sensor (throttle position, lambda etc.) problem.

If it revs cleanly then the problem must be mechanical.

Jack up each corner of the car in turn (rear jack points are actually in the middle of the car) and see whether you can turn each wheel by hand, in both directions. If you can, then there's no seized brakes or jamming transmission.

I suspect you'll find that the rear wheels turn freely but the front wheels only turn backwards... in which case it's a transmission problem. When you take the 'box off, fit a new clutch while you've gone to the trouble.

Don't try to force the beast forwards if the transmission is locking.. you're not going to make things better and might make things a whole lot worse.
