I am getting a misfire occasionally. The problem occurs when the engine is still cold and I start to accelerate from a low speed in a too high gear. Today was 2nd.

If it was the coil packs, wouldn't it be all the time? and not just the occasional one?

I think it could be headgasket, but performance and temperature are fine at the moment.

What are the possible causes?

Cheers,

Joe

Have you checked the HT leads and coil packs are all connected up clean and correctly?

Assuming there's still the black cover over the leads on the right hand side of your engine, undo the 10mm bolt on there and removed. Pull each lead off at a time and just check for dirt inside the connection. Clean if necessary. Pull the wiring connection from the coil pack and give that a blow to get any dirt out. Connect all back up once your done. Then pull the leads off the plugs(once at a time again) and check them for dirt. when putting these back in place, push them carefully onto the plugs until you hear or feel them click back onto the plug.

Might just be a bad connection. Check those before you start messing with the more complicated stuff that could be causing it (y)
