Quick Q - what tire pressure do Cinq's need, front and back? ( i know it dumb, but i'm lacking a manual!)

Cheers

it all depends on the tyre youre using most tyres will have the max rating on the sidewall. the max rating is for under a heay load and as the cinq doesnt weigh much its best to keep a couple of psi below the rating. for example 165/55/13 nankangs have a max rating of 34 psi 165/55/13 pirellis have a max rating of 44 psi.

i had nankangs on front and pirellies on the rear and had them both a few psi below the max rating.

That's a bit 'nowhere' IMO. IIRC, according to Mr Haynes and the Fiat Cinq handbook they are 30psi for 165/55/13 (standard sporting) or 29psi for 155/70 and 155/65 (S/SX). I'll double check to confirm.

Tyre pressures are altered by heat, so it will depend on whether you do your pressures hot or cold. (OK, I know you could fill them with nitrogen to keep them constant, but, hey, this is the real world).

30 psi allround is a good starting point for cold setting, but there is room for adjustment and experimentation, particularly as most guages are not that accurate.

Obtaining you own guage of reasonable quality will at least ensure that any changes you make are actually changes, not differences between guages.

You should be able to detect the difference in handling of 2psi. In dry conditions fronts being a bit harder than rears will improve turn in, but in the wet, may lead to the car feeling unstable.

The choice is yours

29-30 per corner sounds good. I only have cheap tires on my cinq (SX), but the fronts are looking a bit soft. I've got quite a nifty digi-pressure gauge, and an electric pump (prob worth more than the car :D )

Cheers for the info ppl

Just looking thru Haynes manual:

145/70 and 155/65 (S & SX) - 2.0 bars (29 psi) in front and rear.
165/55 (Sporting) - 2.1 bars (30 psi) in front and rear.

Hope this helps

Same as what I posted. Double checked in my Haynes and its correct.

Also full load is 32psi for 145/70, 155/65 and 165/55 tyres.
