Hi,

Recently bought a cinq (been nothing but trouble) not down to teh car down to the way owner treated it. Trying to get everything back to normal.

I've noticed the brake lights &reverse lights keep going out, the bulbs are fine but the 7.5 fuse keeps blowing. Any advice?

Also when i pour in window screen wash it falls out the bottom of my car lol any advice?

First of all, your screen wash problem is most likely the rubber tube which carries the water from the pump to the nozzles being perished and everytime you try them as mentioned it'll trickle out the bottom.

You need to renew the tubing to fix the problem, don't know how handy your are with tools but it's not too tricky if yo just take your time. Tubing can be had from Halfords or motor factors for a few quid, also pet shops sell aquarium hose which also works!

You need to jack up the car, use an axle stand, remove the front wheel and the arch liner to get access to the reservior and pumps, the front hose goes through a hole in the drivers wing just behind the headlight, pop the bonnet and you'll see, renew any hose you can see damaged up to the non return valves which you will find if you trace the tubing.

As for the electrical problem it sounds like a short somewhere in the wiring, I'd take off the rear clusters and check connections and bulbs and see if the problem persists, could be a dodgy repair or usually something simple.

Some of the other will hopefully lend some advice too.

Also note that using the search facility at the top of the main page could get you the answers you need, for instance, the perishd tubing is a common fault on these wee cars.

Thanks Liam for all your help,
To be honest it's a bit beyond my skills as its my first car so im taking it to the garage if its the tube its only gonna cost me bout £20, better than me causing further damage by poking things.

As for the lights i've checked everything i can with my limited knowledge and patience including other fuses, so can any one recommend a good electrician in the uxbrudge/Ruislip/Harrow Area that wont charge the earth?
Or anyone in this area be able to help me out, for fair price. Thanks loads :)

Hi,
When does the fuse blow, when the brakes are pressed or when reverse is selected...?

Thanks

Fuse keeps blowing on main headlights

Hi I recently passed my test and was given a seicento 899cc. It is really a lovely little car but I have a problem. The fuses keep blowing when I turn the main beam or dipped headlights on and I don't know why. I had it checked out at a garage and the mechanic said it was a bad connection on the relay. He fixed the problem and charged me 20 pound. Two days later I am experiencing the same problem. I replaced the fuses this morning but on testing it blew again. This has happened 3 times I even replaced the 7.5A with 10A fuses. This has led me to believe there is a fault with the electrics. Can anyone give me any advice or recommend a good mechanic in the Selby area. I cannot afford to keep paying 20 pound each time this happens and need my little car to get to work.
