Hi All,

The time has come for me to sell my beloved Seicento Sporting as I'm getting a Gixxer 750...the only problem is that I have no idea on what sort of price I should be putting on it.

It's an 02 plate, black, with around 40'000 miles on the clock. I've had a custom LongLife cat-back exhaust fitted (which has a life time guarantee on it) and have fitted a K&N induction kit, Schumacher spoiler, rear tinted lights, and front tinted indicators myself. I've also debadged the rear too. It has only a few scratches, which for it's age isn't bad.

It has the following 'issues' which is why I don't know how much to market it at:

No MOT or Tax
Bald front tyres
Damaged front foglight which will need replacing (stone smashed the glass )
A couple of the alloy's paint has peeled, so could do with a respray

Obviously I know the above points are minimal, and if I fixed them myself before selling I would make more money...the problem is I am after a quick sell because I want my bike ASAP.

I'd really appreciate a response to this :)

Thanks in advance,

Mike

MOT it, it'll add more than £40 to value of it. If I was in the market for a small car then I'd simply skip over one with no MOT. There are plenty others; and it'd just raise the question "Why isn't it MOT'd - something must be very wrong with it"

I paid £280.00 for an 2001 Michael Schumacher Seicento which had done 31,000 miles and had a small amount of tax and MOT left. The guy had put it in for a test and provided the fail sheet. (Fuel tank requires replacement, rear hub etc).

So at a guess your car would be worth £300.00 or so

Another thing to consider;

No valid MOT + bald tyres + after market exhaust + tinted lights + after market filter will say to most potential buyers "This car has been ragged about the place a lot"

I'm at all saying that your car is a ragged about mess but you need to consider who is likely to buy it. If you want to sell it quickly then you need to MOT and tax it.

Getting an MOT to sell my cinq has been a right hassle tbh. Can't drive it on my policy as its my other car, thats illegal for obvious reasons.. Then i can't get temporary insurance because none of them cover modded cars. In end I had to sign it over to the lad thats buying it so its his car then i can drive on my insurance. I think if you don't know anyone that is covered to drive it for you then the only real solution would be to take out a full policy and hope you sell in time so you can cancel the insurance and get alot of your money back.

I guess what i'm getting at is a car with 12months t&t isn't necessarily a good car - i know this from experience. the last car i bought with a full 12months t&t i ended up just giving away a year later as it needed so much work to get another MOT. The main reason i would buy a car with t&t is merely becasue its easier to get it home again without breaking any laws. Everyone is right though, people want at least a MOT generally when browsing unless they are looking for a project. Think of an MOT like painting your house before you sell it, costs are minimal but the returns are great - just get it done.

also on top of what everyone else has pointe out - the mods you have carried out limit the potential buyer - lthink about it, its a low insuracnce category so ie could be new driver etc your average joe bloggs isnt going to wanted tinted lights n what not and a custom exhaust. so having to change all that about adds more money and pointless time consumed, and it gets to the point where is it worth for a new 17yr old driver to go to the hassle of doing the above plus £50 MOT £71.50 Tax, 2 new tyres etc etc. Also have a look on ebay autotrader etc and see what simialr cars sell for (and remember just because you may see a car avertised on ebay etc for a really nice looking high price, is doesnt mean thats what your gonna get for it lol Tax and MOT it, and you will have more interest.

To be honest...all of the faults should have been fixed by now...I never had any intention of selling this car - It was my 'project'...you know, bigger engine, wider wheels etc etc etc (won't bore you) but then I ran out of money, and decided I want a bike instead...had I of got the wheels, the tyres would be new...and had I of got the body kit I was going to get, I wouldn't have to replace the fog light...I just kept debating on whether to sell it when it had MOT, or just keep it on my drive and continue working on it whilst riding the bike...then I realised I CANT BUY THE BIKE WITHOUT SELLING THE CAR! lol! At which point it was too late, the tax had ran out, as had the MOT...so now I'm stuck with a car just sat on my drive :( The thing is, I REALLY don't want to virtually give it away...I've spent too much on it already, I mean the exhaust was like £360 or something like that. Obviously I don't expect to get a return on it, as you say I have now made my car attractive to Chavs only haha and not first time drivers, but as I say, I didn't expect to sell the car and didn't care about who would want to buy it.

Trouble is also...getting it through the MOT would mean new tyres (been quoted at best £78 each...ridiculous for 13"! Apparently 'no one makes them'), then obviously taxing the car which is like £96 for 6 months, of course this is assuming everything else passes!...it's all money I don't have right now..damn moving houses!

Guess I'll move it into my garage, and work on it as a project car - i'd rather keep it than sell it for 'pitance'

i paid £55 fora BN budget tyre and my tax is £71.50 for 6 months, do you have your standard exhaust system and did you tint your origial lights or do you have spares? at the very least get it to its standard state lol or jus chuck it on ebay with a reserve and see what happens etc. dunno if youd get much scrap value. i had a 106 and like your sei wasnt really much needed doing except lil bits but had no mot and small amount of tax. most i was offered was basically £50.. so i tarted it up - cheap wheel trims, new healight for MOT and sold it for near £500 with 12months mot and 6 months tax,, think it cost me like £150 in total to get it to that stage.

ahh man I've missed Fiat Forum - not been on here for AGES!

You guys are always more than helpful :)

My dad said he might actually be interested in it for work as at the moment he's sharing his car with my mum and wants his own again. I'll keep you posted on what I do in this thread.
