First of all, am i right in saying its a relatively specialised job remapping a cinq? Can it be done? I've heard some ECUs can't be mapped, but it can still be done by burning a new chip with the info gained from a rolling road session.

Basically i'm looking for someone to remap my cinq and set up the vernier pulley. Anyone know who will do it? I thought GSR used to do it but i tried to find their website and i couldn't! I live in Buxton (Near Manchester) so anywhere near that would be a bonus but i'm willing to travel.

Cheers!

Jamie

Gsr no longer exist i dont think they did cinqs anyway because the ecu waant OBD2 compliant

im guessing you are saying that Angel Tuning dont do that then?

You guessed right. Have a look at the models list that they cater for. A chip will have to have RR time because there's much less call for chipping compared to OBD remapping nowadays.

its all new to me, i didnt even know what remapping was untill i got Yella, and then i needed it explaining twice:shakehead:

Do you have the Cinq sporting ? and are you looking for a bit more zip ?
Re the remap they have little benefit in a NA unless you have changed other bits in the engine.
It may be possible to reset the ECU so that it can learn to meter differently but that would only be necessary if you have made some 'breathing' changes.

Thanks for all the replies!

Yes it is the sporting, although it has the 1242 8v in it. Its also got a 40mm TB, P75 Cam, Supersprint Manifold back exhaust, GSR Induction kit. And its all running on the McKrick chipped ECU, so needs a proper map to make the most out of it.

Did a bit more reading, so know understand the difference in terminology between remapping and chipping! - That confused me to start with!

So does anyone know of somewhere that has a rolling road set up and can chip the cinq's ecu near Buxton? or Manchester?

Cheers

Hi Jamie. Suggest trying the Panda section. Quite a few have played with the engine in there. Surprised to see a GSR in a 1.2 - I would have thought that a Panel filter from ITG would be more effective along with a crankcase breather - but it wouldn't have the induction sound of the GSR. What is the difference between chipping and re-mapping ? I thought it was the same thing except that on a re-map your own ECU is left intact whilst chipping (correct me if I'm wrong) is putting in a new ECU that has been virginised and mapped.
Would you not be able to reset the ECU (steps are fairly straightforward on a 1368cc to 'save' having a re-map) since that would cost upwards of £150 if it can be done.
P.S. heard good reports on the supersprint manifold.

ITG are made from foam even a standard filter would be better than a filter made out of stuff your sofa is made from

It's funny that you mention that. I had a long email discussion with Nigel (Angel Tunig) about the pros and cons of cotton gauze (K&N, BMC) and foam (ITG). I was opting for the former but he gave me very good reasons for opting for foam because it was more benefical from a performance point of view. His view was that all racing cars use foam so it has been tried and tested. In the end I bought a pipercross CAI that's foam based. Last week I ordered a ITG panel filter for my own 1.4 but the wrong size got delivered. Still thinking that I might prefer a BMC but ITG have been highly rated and seem to be the only panel filter giving any kind of a performance difference (OK - only 1 or 2 bhp) but it all counts. I would probably throw out the foam when the time comes and buy a new one as opposed to 'washing it'. The Cotton gauze is re-usable. But I take your point.

:ROFLMAO: you taking the word of a salesman

Foam filters are used on race cars because allow much better air flow, but however if the engine is only built for one race then rebuilt after they will just run an open body with a ram feed.

I have run a BMC and they are good, but they clog up very quickly (could be why they have a notice saying not for highway use). I'll be using an ITG or Piper foam filter next however.

Thanks
