Hello,
The wife's Cinq SX (nice shade of pink) is having starting problems when warm. Starts ok from cold but when it is warm it cuts out especially when slowing down and pulling up to a junction and refuses to start, cranks ok tho, just turns over
Have checked the plugs, leads coil pack etc, crank sensor...good spark as well

When it has stalled it takes a good couple of minutes to fire it up again normally with the accelerator flat to the floor and then when it is running when we go to change gear the revs will not drop it races away and is only cured by turning off and on again. Not good at 40mph thru town.

Have thought it might be the fuel pump or throttle body or fuel related somewhere....anyone else have similar issue?

Would appreciate any advice as this is driving me potty!:bang:

sounds like a cold start sensor and a sticking throttle cable

did a KA before and it was a airflow meter was causing an over revving problem

Once it has failed to start, check the TB to see if fuel is flowing from the injector.

It could be too much fuel for the amount of air, hence having to churn it with the throttle wide open.

Temp sensor is the likely culprit as mentioned.

Check it with a meter.

Thanks for response.

I dont have a Haynes yet! But could you please help with identifying where the sensor is?

Thanks

I have replaced the temp sensor, problem still remains. Althought it did create a false sense of security.............all seemed fine on start up, ticking away nicely, went for a spin all ok.

Just parked at home idling the car...then it just cut out.

Lots of shouting later......turning over again but have noticed that the fuel pump is whirring when turn ignition on, runs for about 3 second, then stops when I cant start it, release the key and it whirrs for about 2 secs again before stopping.

Bizarrely when I did get it started it, the engine raced away, revs climbing steadily, no response from the pedal.

Any ideas anyone please.......its not the car thats driving me mad its her indoors..........'havent you fixed yet'..get the idea?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
