Technical press brake pedal headlights come on

hi all my son has a cinq 1993 899cc when he presses the brake pedal his headlights come on, also the fans only work on full , this started around the same time when he helped someone with a jump start dont know if this would have done the damage, all other electrical seems to be working fine all fuses checked and working please help

Could well have done damage if the terminals were connected to the other cars battery incorrectly at any point. All manner of weird stuff can happen by putting pos on battery to neg on car etc, if not a fuse a relay could be gone

he isnt using any led style bulbs is he? or got bulbs for brake light in wrong way around in back lights?

because my sei does the same thing my sidelights come on also when i brake

There is a brake light bulb either of the wrong sort or inserted incorrectly.

The fan issue is the resistor pack has failed. Needs a new resistor pack, can be a bit of a pain to fit

thanks for your help , we have tried different new bulbs and different set of back light holders but still the headlights come on when pressing foot brake [ could it be a bad earth ] as for the fans i went to my car today and thats doing the same aswell so will have to replace both resistors in our cars

Could be an earth problem, check the four earths one at at each corner.

Does it still do it with the bulbs removedfrom the brake lights?

This sound suspicously light a brake light switch problem, have you tried removing it and manually making the connection across the wires?

My cinq did this for about 2 weeks in the damp, but has now fixed its self. Now a clue what caused it.
