Hi,

I have lowered my 899 40mm (Apex) a while ago, but it still seems a bit high.
I'm looking for maybe another 10mm, but this doesn't seem readily available.
Then is struck me, a sporting is 20mm lower than a boggo 899 right?
so 35 or 30mm lowering springs for a sporting should do the trick shouldn't it?

If you used the Apex springs and shocks, they'll be at Sporting spec anyway. If just the springs, you're right, but, lowering 40mm -- let alone more -- will destroy stock shocks very quicky. Lowering more will need shorter shocks (or a full kit) and will probably halve the life of the rest of the suspension/steering/drivetrain components. You'll have a little more grip, but the handling will suffer a little.

how long ago did you lower it, because i lowered my 899 40mm and it was no where near how low i wanted it, but now ive got a new car and its sitting in the garden, the suspension is settling and its looking lower at the front, still not as low at the back, the person from my local car parts shop got onto g max for me, and the said they are going to start re-making the -60 drop for the sportings (the one on ghostwkds car) again and quite soon i think (y)

I used the Apex springs and shocks for the 899, so the shocks in those aren't shortened?
I'm assuming they are made to be used with the supplied springs, so should be able to handle another 10mm.
Could you elaborate on the increased wear in the other parts, should i worry about driveshafts and such?

Driveshafts, no, but CV joints, steering bushes, etc. will all suffer. Blue 2 was lowered around 50/60mm (not by me!) and everything suffered. Including the chassis itself! It would also ground out on some speed bumps (fortunately, never taken at speed) when fully loaded (fat girl in the back). There's a point at which lowering only increases grip, but doesn't improve handling. Whether it looks good is a moot point -- there's a well slammed Pug in South Liverpool which everyone (even people who are not into cars) takes the pee out of: it can't even get into (let alone out of) one scrapyard/tyre dealer.
