First off hello to the forum.

Now on to my little problem. I have managed to lose the only blue key (code 2 I believe) to my 2001 Seicento SX. After looking in the manual and reading on this forum I have read that there is a code card required to duplicate keys. According to a few posts on here these code cards are not issued in the UK. Fiat tell me I need to get my car recovered to them where they can recode the car and make new keys. The RAC tell me Fiat can make me a key with this pin/code.

Can anyone confirm that Fiat can get hold of this code and if they can make a new key from this?

Responses will be greatly appreciated.

What a hassle... insurance purposes? More like moneygrabbing. When I bought my SX in Spain I was given the card and no end has come to the world for that.

I know the card isn't issued in the UK for insurance purposes, but FIAT UK I assume would hold a record of what code is associated with your car so it is possible. However, from what I've read, it won't be cheap ...

Cheers for the reply. I'm kinda resigned to the fact it's going to cost. Oh well. Guess it's back to Fiat again and get the key and code.

OK the end is in sight. £48 for the key, £12 for the code and a mobile firm to program it for £40. Donations welcome.......

Thanks again guys.

Yes defintely get a key cut. I believe even Timpsons and the like can do it for around £30. Believe me I wish I had. £48 seemed steep to me too but at least is consistent with the Fiat dealers (I rang a few to make sure). £100 all in. Could be worse and lesson learned. Mind you it's not actually done yet....
