Hi. Im brand new to this forum so hello all.

Ive just bought an M reg Cinque for my daughter. Its been a long time since Ive done Car DIY (Too many years with company supplied cars).

Anyway, I need to sort out the window winder mechanism as when its on fully up just as its entering he rubber in the frame , it starts to make a clicking noise as if its slipping on some kind of ratchet. As a result the window doesnt seal itself in the frame

I was going to have the panel off to investigate.

My question is - How do you get the winder handle off? Probably simple I know but I didnt want to break anything trying

Also any other tips advise would be greatly recieved.

Thanks

The winder is retained by a strange shaped clip.

In essence, push the interior door panel in abit and look down the back of the winder handle. You should see two thing steel lugs from the clip peering back at you. Push these away from you so the clip comes out the other side of the winder handle, then it will pull off.

It could be the winder handle itself that was worn, or the cog that it mates with it.

Oh, and

Welcome

Cheers

Thanks for that. I didnt think it may be the handle itself, ill have a good look at the weekend.

By the way Ive just been quoted £25 for the entire window regulator mechanism from a breakers yard. Is that a good price?
