Can anyone advise i neeed a spare blue key (CODED) for my shuie i checked with fiats and was told it will be around a 100 pounds , i only have 1 blue key , no identification card or master key (red) also on 2 occations the code key light has came on at 1st attempt to start the engine but started on the second attempt, in the handbook it says if this happens just restart the car and it will reset which it does do , but i would still prefer to have a spare in any case , is there a cheaper solution than via fiats any thoughts , regards marino bottali.

On a Shuey you won't have a red key.

There may be local people who can do it for less than FIAT, but it'll still be expensive.

Did you try cleaning the contacts?

Hi fingers i have just got your message about checking and cleaning so i will have a look tommorow but i will still feel safer with a spare key, i did hear that if i contact fiat for a small fee they will give me the code number which will help to clone a spare key , the other thing i thought of doing was to try to track down previous owners to see if they have the spare ,the person i bought the car from only had the 1 blue key ,another thing i read in the handbook was that the key can get damaged if you are not carefull as it has a chip inside which can cause problems when starting the engine!!!! it,s amazing so many different things to only 1 part of the car why so complicated it,s a shame you could not just immobilise the immobiliser and have just a basic spare key cut for a few pounds.

On the SPI cars it was easy enough. Should be possible on the MPI, but beyond my ken.

I have a simaler problem with my Cinqui but i have the read key been looking on ebay and a guy there is advertising blue keys that can be coded from other blue keys worth an email the ebay number is 250301760623
