Guys,

I am fairly new to this Cinq thing and I am worried....I need to disconnect my cars ECU ("N" Reg Sporting) but I dont have a red or blue key........just a plain old black one with no transponder at all!!! My car has had a remote central locking alarm and a seperate immobilizer fitted to it by a previous owner so is that why I only have a plain old black key????? Help guys as I need to remove my ECU to take a few pics inside as I am working on a CHEAP "Chip" with an ECU reprogramming company.....I should be able to offer it to you guys soon for less than £80!!!! But....I need a picture of the inside of the sporting std ECU.......can anyone help??

Email me on:- [email protected]

Cheers

smooth binki, digging binki, waiting for headrub binki, running binki,

Ive got a 16F ECU (As fitted to the Cinq \ Sei \ Punto) lying about, I'll get some piccys in a bit.

This ECU company local?

Dave - My 95 Sporting has the transponder immobiliser.

I believe the transponder and immobiliser control box is somewhere around the steering column, and its fairly inaccessible apparently. I wouldnt know how to disable it though. I thought the ECU maps were stored independently of the immobiliser control?

boot delock soon, Induction in development!

Tom,

Please do send the pics of the inside of the ECu to me at:- [email protected] and ill get the guy to write the installation instructions. Ill get a chip for me and one for you if you like......so we can fit them as "Development" cars!!! The guy says has has mapped the 3000rpm flat spot out and increased the fueling etc to give he thinks another 6-7BHP!! Plus....a Chipped ecu should then be good for the 1242 transplant..if you wanted to fit one that is!!!

Alternatively, sell me the ECu and I will fit the chip at work, do the Dyno Runs and publish the charts on this forum.

So...do you think that any ECU could be swapped into my Cinq....without the Red Key to match....seing as my car doesnt appear to have a red or blue key??

Cheers

Unfortunately, I think it has the immobiliser circuitry, but its actually for the Punto 60 (1242 SPi), but is the same type as the Cinq ECU, the only difference is the software maps.

I dont think it'd retrofit reliably, unless yure running a 1242cc, and the only reason I havent got it in mine is because I dunno whether its suitable!

One thing I would be interested in is a chip for the 1108cc ECU that gives it a map to run a 1242cc, but with uprated fuelling etc!

Right, Piccys are up!

The ECU is from a Punto 60.
I get the impression that the two sets of things clipped in by the side of the board are ignition coil drivers.
Its a 68HC11 microprocessor, and I think the chip labelled by the top of the board is the memory chip the maps are held on, and I think thats a 27C256 chip!

94 n plate sportings dont have a code system however 95 n plates do i belive, its a bit of a fuzzy crossover.
anyway even if it were a coded ecu you do not need to use the red key after disconecting it for any length of time.

Well, its a 16F.E3 unit. the Cinq unit is a 16F.ER I think.

Either way, the common 16F.xx naming seems to imply to me, especially that its the same engine architecture, that it will be the same ECU, just using a dierent map, hence the xx changes!

I cant confirm this, its only me theorising!

If yu wanted to check, yu should be able to (again, I cant confirm) disconnect the ECU, open it up and then seal it back up and reconnect it.

Oh, another thing...is the company yure using local?
