Hi
first sorry if its posted in wrong area
i have a W reg Seicento i have had it for just over a year put have been unable to drive it as often as i like as i am still a learner driver
when it has been driven by either my father or brother it gets overheated if we are stuck in traffic and steam starts coming out of the bonnet and we have to fill the water bottle up

i have been told to check the water bottle for any traces of oil but when it last happened my brother filled it up and didnt see any oil in the water bottle(makes sense?)

i do not have a manual to know what the problem could be
any advice?

Thankyou

See here for whether it's MPI or SPI. Essentially, if it has a huge black airbox with rounded corners and a circle in the middle, it's MPI, if it has a rectangular, grey, boxy looking one, it's SPI.

You say it overheats in traffic. So I'm presuming it doesn't overheat on runs?

Does the fan come on? You should feel the engine slow down a little and a rumbling/whirring noise from under the bonnet?

thankyou was thinking how would i no what it is lol

it has been on long runs with out waiting in traffic and it dont over heat
no fan comes one

its recently had MOT so its nothing to do with that im just hoping to get this sorted ASAP as im hoping on passing very soon

Thankyou will try and look today.

Dont know if it helps my cars seicento sporting didnt say that in the first post, im just worrying its the head gasket as when ive spoken about it before thats first thing someone say's and i no there pretty expensive to fix.

once again thanks will let you know when ive checked

my cousin just came out(week after passing my driving test:rolleyes:) it was a fuse, fun bit now is trying to find were to get fuse from
he works in a car place on parts and has never seen one before its not the small fuse's its biggish

Thankyou for the help will let you know how i get on finding the fuse

w reg? thats like before 2000?all those models were SPI.

incidently there was a recall on the fuel tank on the up to 99 models.

if its overheating, check that the radiator is not leaking,if there is any blue/orange residue on the radiator (look though the bumper)

if the thing is "drinking" water then this could be a cause.

if you dont replace the radiator (40quid) otherwise the headgasket could go which is expensive to replace if you go 2 a garage.

its a common fault...just look on ebay at all the ones with blown headgaskets.

hope this helps....
