k&n kit seems the cheapest and is £54 from tuning.co.uk

pipercross kit looks decent enough and seems pretty cheap £71.99 inc delivery

gsr one is listed at £112.94 on their site (but i have no idea where to get one)

or are there others i'm overlooking?

i need some advice from those in the know - that's you lot

cheers

only place to get gsr from is from gsr guy himself (or make a replica lol) gsr is defo the best of the 3 tbh, had a k&n and went to gsr and couldnt believe the difference [:p]

altho gsr left my horn loose (and still is loose lol) but gives me an excuse to go to scrapper tomorrow (if i get chance) to pinch a horn off a different car :p

Abarth Kitted Cinq Sporting, New lil siggy pic coming soon, till then.... not much really lol

I've got a pipercross on mine, it gives a nice sound, evens out all the flat spots, i've got no complaints at all with it

cheers for the opinions, i'm veering towards the pipercross due to price

i have another question though

once the induction kit is on, will i need to have the engine retuned at all? (and if so does that require the dreaded missing red key?)

No shouldnt do. My 900cc K+N Bolted on fine. The ECU learns the alteration in engine characteristics itself!

clever little tyke!

but in general, am i right in thinking that if i did want to get it tuned up it's no longer a case of someone tinkering with a spanner but rather linking up to a laptop?

In this life you generally get what you pay for. The K+N and Green filters sit on top of the throttle body. The GSR has an extension so the filter sits on top of the gearbox, near enough. I suspect the Pipercross is similar to the K+N, as these need cold air fed to them. Normally the cold air comes from the gearbox side or over the top of the engine from a fitting on the slam panel. The 'cold air kit' is standard with the green filter.

The throttle body mounted ones give a lot of noise just in front of the driver, but it is very wearing driving longer distances.

If you do not feed cold air to a throttle body mounted unit it will draw hot air from the engine bay. Cold air is more dense so needs more fuel to burn with it and therefore more power. Hot air equals less power.

Cheers

Grumpy old git going fast downhill rather than downhill fast!!

It's not really exposed. The bumper only has a small grill at that side for the horn. the air that is pulled up from under the car does a good enough job! My filter is as clean now as when I got it
