Have anybody here replaced the seicento radiator themselves (1999 sei). I'm facing the prospect of the whole easter weekend at home on my own (the other half is off to donny but I couldn't afford it).

Is replacing the rad relatively simple for a novice with a jack, couple of axle stands, spanners, jubilie clips and coolant (oh and weedy arms)?

So..
choc back wheels
stick front on axle stands
remove abarth bumper
take off bottom hose
catch remaining coolant in bucket
remove any screws and hoses and jubilie clips
swap rad over
attach hoses with cursing and grazed hands put on new jubilee clips :bang:
Stick in new coolant, squeeze hoses to rid of air
run engine, top up coolant.....repeat til happy

stick car back together and hope to make a day at donny....

thanks (y)

is it pretty obvious where the abrath bumper is attached? Torx driver...6 point star one isn't it?

8 screws in total, 2 up in each arch , 2 along bottom of bumper and 2 on top (see them when you lift up bonnet)

may have to take the wheels off and remove arch liners as ones up in arches are a pain to get to but can be done especially with weedy arms :p

Thanks guys took me ages (like 5 hours :slayer: ) but manged it, the actual swapping the radiators only took 10min the rest was taking bits off and fitting them back together, the raches was the most pain!

Was a bit worried because the first time the fan came on was after 3 trips and 130miles, I was starting to think I'd not plugged the fan sensor thing back in properly :) Luckly as i joined the queue it kicked in, I'd never been so relieved (y)

Hopefully I won't have to do that again for another 5 years....

Whilst were on the subject...what radatiors will fit a cinq sporting?? eg sie spoting, cinq, sie 900??

Mines very leaky(n) (n)

Cheers Tom

Just beware the Sei MPI ones. They probably can be retrofitted (and are a little bigger, and ally) but seem not to have the fan switch fitting (as the fan is controlled by the ECU).

As to which, well, it depends on your pocket. Of course, if you get one from a scrappy you're taking the risk that it's not leaky or clogged up with silt.

me pocket aint that big atm but i could buy a new ally one if it came to it.

i used a stop leak liquid to prevent the leaking but it still uses quite abit of water.

i just dont want to do me head gasket in...but then i would have an excuse to do a 1242 conversion:rolleyes:   lol
