Just fitted the mckcrich chip. Went a drive and the limiter kicks in at 4,500! I'm sure i've fitted it right. Anyone else had this problem? Also, what lights come on when it's fitted? I've got the code light and another one(red) don't know what it is, will check haynes later.

I email mckcrich but he's away on holiday for a week, so just seeing if anyone has any ideas!?

Thanks

Jamie

Maybe it's (the ecu as a whole) picking up a afault else where and is in limp mode? Do they have that?

If still broken, revert to standard chip, then test all sensors / actuators as ones quite possibly about to die.

Failing that, its quite possible that the chip's programmed slightly wrong and the ECU's throwing a wobbly as a result. I think ECU EEPROM send it to Limp mode.

Plugged in the original one again and the fault cleared. Ran fine. But then when i put the mckcrich one back in the same light came on, which is the "Injection system malfunction" light.

Tried resetting the ecu - unplugging the battery for 10mins, just the same, so unplugged it, went away for dinner, then about an hour later tried it again but still the light's on!

So far all i can see is it's in limp mode, but not with the original chip, so there's not actually a problem with the car i don't think (or hope not!). So what else could it be apart from a dodgy chip?

Right here's the dilema, Michael tested the chip and it was fine, so it's obviously a problem with the car. I'm getting gsr induction kit and 40mm tb, would it be daft to run it on standard chip?

I know there's a number of things that could cause injection light to come on, is there any way to find out what?

Cheers

See that plug you found in your other post, thats the one to use to find the iffy sensor.

I am struggling to understand how the thing runs alright on the standard chip, but won't run on the McRich. It uses all the same sensors.

Maybe I've just read it wrong.

Cheers

This is problem with the chip, do you have posibility to burn yourself a chip? i can write for you something.

Finally i've had success! The spare plug was for the carbon cannister (thanks guys). Found it eventually, dont know how i missed it before! Plugged it in then re-fitted the chip and works great!

Still not sure why the light didn't come on with the standard chip, but it works now so i'm happy!

Thanks for all the help

Jamie
