hi all again!! i was wondering if anyone else with a seicento sporting has fitted an aftermarket temp guage, as they dont have em as standard, grrrrr!!
How wud they work cus im thinking of gettin one of those multi colour f&f ones. If they electric do you just take a feed from the temp guage in the engine or wot???

pls help :)

multicolour f&f ones, gex has one in his sei.

You will need to change the sender unit in the engine, one should be supplied with the new gauge. Or you might be able to use the standard fiat part from the cinq sporting. I'm not sure.

hi m8,
im building pillar pods at the moment to take water temp and volt meters, Gex has already done it on his Sei, the FastFurious gauges your on about come with a sender so you can take out the exsisting temp switch and fit the sender and away you go but you would then lose your overtemp light so you could use one of these

and cut into a water pipe and fit that

hope that helps m8

hi, thanks for the info but if u buy an aftermarket universal temp guage like one of thos f&f ones then surely the temp sender which will go into the engine will be different from car to car??

Does the cinq sporting temp sender fit into the sei, and what wud be the difference between that and the sei one?

surely couldn't you just piggy back the connections from the standard temp sender in the engine and connect them upto a guage?

any help wud be suuuuuuperb :)

The temp-sensor on a Sei1 is on/off for the warning lamp.
The Cinq is variable, and it fits 100%

My aftermarket gauge show 10 degrees too much...
So I'll have to pit a small resistor to correct the faulty readout :)
(It drives me crazy to look at an engine-temp of 100 degrees!)

Planning to install a temp gauge and reading up the various posts on the subject.

Looking in the engine compartment the heater hoses seem most accessible for installing the sender. Has anyone else had a good result with this? Does anyone know the internal diameter of the hose so that I can make the the fitting for the sender unit the right size?

I'm not too bothered about whether the gauge under or overreads a little compared with putting the gauge in the radiator circuit - I think knowing the indicated temperature that it runs at and seeing it its above or below that is more important.

I see the comments relating to Mk1 and Mk2 Seicentos, is Mk1 the SPI & Mk2 MPI?

Mark.

Exactamundo mate, mk1 was upto 2000 x-registered cars ;)

If someones doing this soon, a how to stylee thread might be a good idea, i'm sure many Sei owners would like to do this..
