Oh no! Turtle wax itself isn't as bad as some would have but these colour restorer products are marketing gimmicks! If you've got stone chips touch them in with paint.

How about http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MEGUIARS-NXT-...032359728QQcategoryZ72201QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

or

There are so many to choose from.

You could try Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine which is a single stage polish protectant (avoid getting it on black unpainted plastics) or go for a 2 step polish and protect like Autoglym Supr Resin Polish (SRP) and Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection (EGP).

You could try the Megs 3 step process with Deep Crystal stages 1, 2 & 3. Personally I'd forget stage 3 and use something better as you final stage. Megs do NXT Tech Wax which is suppose to be pretty good.

I use the megs stuff usually wash the car off well clay it then put stages 1 - 3 on 3rd on is carnauba wax then give it a few coats of NXT techwax paintwork comes up bloody lovely.

Does take all day though to do it properly. But done right looks amazing.

it's all in the buffing, I get away with a yearly coat of original turtle hard shell (When it came in a tin, and was removed from sale in the late 90's due to new enviromental legisltation, we loved it so much we bought 10tins, still got 4left I think) and then the rest of the year it gets autoglym stuff, hi gloss I think.

Your better to wax your car then polish it, you may not end up with the same finish but it basically like having a 2nd shell over your paint, protects it from UV etc.

hi there just joined
gotta add to this post or hubby will kill me,(he's a rep for them)
check out polishes from Autosmart, they are the largest suppliers to the trade general public hardly know about them.
they got some stonking products
for flat base colours like my red you need Mirror Image (cut, clean&gloss) all in one go.
for lacquers and dark colours go for Platinum, leaves a long lasting lustre.
these polishes are all dead easy to use even for a busy mum like me and don't leave the dreaded dust all over your car.
check out there web site for further info www.autosmart.co.uk

I have said it once, and i will say it again - use Armor All, car wax gel. it does directly on a wet car, gives a lovely shine, and last forever (bottle says 8 applications, but i have done 12, and i still have 90% left). Best of all it only costs £6.95, thats for a bottle of car wash and a bottle of car wax.

id recommend Harly wax any day! i got mine from Knightsbrooke Autodesign fro £18 free delivery and the stuff is wicked! Definetley recommeneded! have a look at knightsbrooke.co.uk(y)

This seems to be the same plug for the same product from the same company is atleast 3 threads. Seems like this chap may well connected to the company he is plugging. Naughty, Naughty.

nah dont work for them, just new to forums and wasnt sure what i was replying to and had replied to. i appreciate a good product when i've used one.

Only trouble with carnuba wax (the bit they dont tell you ) is the reason it looks gr8 is that as you buff it off the wax has tails that latch under the surface of the paint , so basically as you re polish after washing ect your just re cutting the surface of the tail. Hence the shine comes back.
Needless to say the tails are latched under the surface of the paint and are not good long term. Eventually you are breaking away the natural surface of the paint finish.

The best wax without a doubt is AutoGlym, probably why Jaguar and Aston Martin use it as opposed to the fancy products that eventually cause damage.

My black sporting is always cared for by AutoGlym products and she shines like a goodun now:D

Mer is fantastic, quite pricey but worth it. There are good deals to be had if you buy off a mer salesman. Got whole bunch of stuff for £30 brushes and allsorts.

Chris if it lasts forever why do you have to put more on ?

I use One Grand. It's from the USA and it's the best I've used so far on the show cars.
www.frost.co.uk sell it.
