I have used halfords back 2 black, turtlewax bumper etc. but when ive polished car etc and applied the bumper shine it lopoks good, but when it rains the bumper shine on the bumper trim smear onto paintwork. is there any alternative i can use that doesnt smear onto car when it rains. like a non-drip back2black.

hi, for your info i've just been doing artwork for a new halfords product 'black right back' we make the product at my work, its good stuff, just as good as (if not not better than) the turtle wax 'black in a flash' which we also do.

p.s. the car on the front of the 'black right back' can is my gf's punto, which i had to digitally make yellow.

should be in the halfords stores in around a month or so.

sorry for boring you with that!!!

si

ive used the halfords aerolsol cand and even black in a flash from tutle wax, it smears onto the bodywor when it rains

I dunno what you can be doing wrong then. I've used both the aerosol and the polishing waxes and never had any smearing onto the paint work. And my car is yellow so it would be noticable a mile away if it was smearing

   I'm puzzled sorry

my cars black, ive got a black 1.8hlx. when it rains the stuff smears off the trim n bumpers and elaves noticable marks on the bodywork under it. until i wash again.

i use

151 bumper black pack i think its called goes on really easy coz its a spray and the colour is mint i used this on my very faded clio bumpers like a light-medium grey they come out black

Hi ive been a valeter for over 14 years and in that time have lerned a few tricks of the trade.
belive it or not most of you will have some stoof lying around your house that does a great job, i will list two bellow, try emm you will be amazed.

1) wd40
2) vaseline

doesnt wd40 dmage paintowork when it rains and smears onto paintowork

i spray wd40 onto the paint directly removes stuff like glue then i wash it off with soapy water jobs done never damaged any of my paint work

no wd 40 wont damage your paint the idea is to spray it directly onto your rag / cloth then apply it to the bumpers / vinyle

WD40 was origiannly designed to leave a layer on missles to stop them rusting, WD standing for water dispersant and 40 cos it took 40 attempts to get right.

read here if interested http://www.wd40.com/AboutUs/our_history.html

And as for the stuff running on the car, use Auto Glym bumper polish/gel? (can't remember then name) and use as directed it will not run as you polish it off after applying.

Aaron.

My wife has a punto sporting ,black so it shows up everything.
Best yet is Autoglym instant tyre dressing on a rag
works for me (as she never washes it (n) )

I've never bothered with any of this back to black stuff. By far the cheapest and most effective stuff to use is things like WD40, vasaline, interior dash polish or any other silicone based aerosol. Just don't use baby oil like my brother once did, it's like a dust magnet and is a right bitch to get off after!

I used to use that back to black stuff, made made havoc when trying to paint my bodywork last year as it kept contaminating everything. And for the amount you use vs. the time it stays - i decided to give up on it.

I now use T-Cut bumper restorer, and its bloody excellent stuff. First you use their cleaner that takes away all the crap and silicon/oils etc, then use their black paint gel stuff. couple of runs over it with their supplied sponge and you have perfect black bumpers - that last!

i did my very faded looked light grey bumpers about a month ago with back to black from halfords, used a whole tin on both bumbers mirrors and black rubber arround windows. Still looks as good now as the day i did it. That's after several dirty harsh down poors too!

I bought some of the Williams F1 trim restorer. Works an absoloute treat. amazing the stuff that it removes. used a clean white cloth, and after wiping the mirrors the cloth was black. Lasted about 2 months now and its been through the carwash a few times. Removed polish off the bumpers really easily.
