Hi again and thanks for your help.

(So I discover more broken things from the car I bought and was not told about.)

The fuel cap doesn't lock. We can open it even though it is in the lock position.

Is it fixable? I don't want to open it and then break something. My wish is to use the original cap that works with the same key as the car.

Will appreciate your help & direction.

Regards,
Deon

Hi

The caps are odd.. ;)

Reinstall the cap.. then

Hold it stationary..and turn the key

The cap should now spin freely :)

GUIDE in the 500 section..as its a common question ;)

Just get an used cap from Stilo that does not need key. I hate unlocking that when refueling. Also the strap is always broken, so there is no place to hold the cap.

Thank for the reply. I would have done so but I am from South Africa and fuel is often stolen from fuel tanks.

Did it lock with a little more technique ?

There are GUIDES on here for swapping the lock barrel

Unfortunately not. It is not technique as I had some vehicles working with lockable caps.
When locked, the cap is supposed to turn freely ant-clockwise ... but it doesn't. It open the cap even in locked position. It is in lock position when key can come out.

Thanks again.
