Hello,

I fitted a xtrons android head unit into my 2007 Fiat Bravo last weekend.

Today I wanted to test removing it ready for some addons I’m planning on buying.

The issue I’m having is the removal keys I used to remove the factory unit don’t seem to work on the new android unit.

I’ve contacted the seller who has not been much help at all.

Has anyone else faced this same problem?

Many thanks,
John.

Most aftermarket headunits come with their own set of removal keys, possible that you disposed of these in error? It looks like the mechanism is very similar though (based on the size and location of the slots), so you might just need a similar tool that's a bit longer.

Hi Eklipze3k,

This unit definitely did not come with any removal keys, I still have all the packaging and boxes it came with, so I’ve double checked again to be sure.

I will have to see if I can find another set similar and try that.

John.

Be careful the way you insert the removal tool keys.
The keys in the picture are the correct ones.
You must insert the keys with the longer straight side facing opposite the radio in booth sides and push them gently in; then strecht the right one into the right and the left one into the left, pulling the unit out.

Hello,
Thanks for the advise, I put them in the exact same way I did to take out the factory radio but still no luck.

Well.. push the clips in!!
they should go in about 1cm more.
At the moment it feels like you are just touching the retaining clips.

If you still have the old headunit, use that to do some tests, to see how much it should go in.. how the tools push the clips..etc

Hello,

Please believe I have tried pushing the keys in harder, in fact, so hard that the keys bent in half.

I’ve also run multiple tests on the factory unit, and the keys slide straight in with little to no effort.

The point of the video was to demonstrate the issue.

I’m trying to find out if anyone else has had this same issue and used a different key or something to that effect.

I’m currently talking with the Manufacturer who believes it could have defected holding clips.

Many thanks, john.

Try to sharpen the clip keys.
I made mine using an old iron steel saw but I have sharpen the points a bit longer then those in the video and you should push the clips outwards in order to press the retaining radio clips.
I'll try to make a video of mine.

I uploaded this [ame="https://youtu.be/Jud53CBeOtI"]video[/ame]. Hope it helps

Thank you so much for taking to time to make this video for me.

I will give this ago on the weekend and let you know how I get on.

Thanks again,

John.
