No Power to aftermarket head unit

Hi, I'm installing an aftermarket head unit into my 08 Fiat bravo 1.9 multijet.
I have removed the stock head unit fine, and have tested this to make sure this still powers up - and it does.

However, when I connect my Kenwood aftermarket head unit it has no power, I have tested it in a friends car, and it works perfect.
From what I can see the wires on the car adapter don't line up with the adapter that goes into the back of the kenwood head unit - tried swapping the wires around myself to see if this could be a solution, but still no power - however my A/C screen has now completely stopped working, not sure if I will have blown a fuse?

Just wondering how other people have gone about getting power into the aftermarket head unit.

Thanks in advance.

Re: No Power to aftermarket head unit

Being an 08, your Bravo is most likely to be using CanBus communications. The car computer talks to modules around the car using two data wires and digital signals. Where older cars, and aftermarket stereos had up to eight wires at the power plug, with CanBus there are just four, two of which you must not connect to the stereo.

CanBus brings a permanent power cable, and an earth, plus the two data wires. The aftermarket unit is expecting permanent power, earth and switched power, and optionally, lighting, speed, telephone mute, aerial power and reverse for satnavs.

The correct way to connect the new unit is via a CanBus interface. This interprets the canbus signals and presents them to the radio as analogue signals, so volume increase with speed, or display dimming with lights on can be achieved, as can a signal when the ignition goes on or off.
Here's an example, but there are options, have a browse of their website.
