Hi all i have a really big issue with my MKII fiat bravo 1.4 hatchback i have started to develop a problem with acceleration i.e i am putting my foot on the accelerator and the revs are flying up but car does not accelerate i have to de celerate the re accelerate to stop it from revving to high this is driving me mad even my local mechanics baffled can any one please advise me on what this issue is id be very great-full:bang:

If revs are flying up but car does not accelerate it sounds like it can only be the clutch. Any smells of burning after it does this?

He cant be a good mechanic then.

Could be a few things really, clutch itself maybe slipping due to wear and you may need to replace it.

Could be release bearing starting to jam in the clutch plate, clutch pedal may start sticking soon.

Could also be hydraulics, could have lost a little pressure, could have air in the system, could be slave cylinder... have you tried to re-bleed the clutch hydraluic system.

I don't know about dual mass flywheels but could this be involved? I was looking at the gear box thinking of how easy it would be to remove last weekend while mI had the wheel arch liner out. The job looked straight forward but the gear box looks VERY heavy / bulky so you need good muscles or a transmission jack. Anyway it deos sound like the clutch to me. Good luck.

Twin exhaust system wanted

I know this may sound stupid but can anyone tell me if Is there a way i can attach a 2nd Exhaust from my current back box muffler to get a twin exhaust

Test your clutch. put your car in 4th gear, pull the handbrake, let the engine run at 2000 rpm and release clutch-pedal very slowly. If the clutch is oké, the engine has to stall directly, if not the clutch has to be replaced.
