I'm going to look at a 2007 Fiat Bravo 1.4L (Petrol) Dynamic this week. It would be really handy to know the commons issues/faults to look out for before purchasing.

Any top tips?

The only serious problem I've had was the gearbox (but i think I was unlucky rather than it being a very common fault)

Get up to a sensible speed (50-ish), put it in 6th and give it a gentle bit of acceleration. If you hear a raspy metallic sound it may be the gearbox bearings, so walk away.

You can hear the noise in 5th too, but it's not as pronounced.

Great, thanks!

Anyone else know of specific issues I should keep an eye out for?

Went to have a look at the 1.4 Bravo Dynamic yesterday. It's a stunning car but my only concern was the engine noise. From outside the car sounds almost like a diesel!

Is the Bravo simply a noisy car or is this particular car one I should avoid?

Other than when it's starting up on an freezing cold morning and it's a little tappy, our 1.4 Tjet petrol is very quiet. You'd certainly not mistake it for a rattly old diesel.
Sounds a bit dubious.

The first Bravo I tested was a plain 150 T-Jet which seemed very quiet. I ended up buying a 150 T-Jet Sport which seems to have more induction noise, I don't know if that was engineered in to add character?!
