ive turned off the ignition and the radio is still playing! its never done this before!

basically, if i stop the engine and take out the key, all dash lights go out, as does the lights and display on the head unit.... but the radio is still playing! the controls on the front of the stereo dont do anything and the power knob doesnt do anything either.

its not in the 20 min mode either, as the HU should be lit up! to test this i left it 30 mins and the radio is still playing.

i went to take off the battery but the blood terminals are bolted on (grrr... at least in our 306 only neg is bolted, pos is clipp on) and i have no tools with me at all. i havent even got anything to try and pop out the HU.

so now im stuck with a car that will most likely end up with a flat battery tomorrow morning! anyone got any soloutions or ideas?

Remove the fuse

Last row, second fuse
You can open the fuse box with the screwdriver - total 3 screws

in my panic i didnt thnk of that. boy do i feel stupid now!

however, putting a CD in it shut it up! i started the car, put a CD in (free with a magazine i had to buy as i dont have CDs in the car!) and turned off the ignition and it stopped.. well, the radio didnt come on anyways and all seems dead.

even with the media player on it would switch to radio with the message "no media found" once the key was removed. when i get home i'll disconnect the battery to reset it amd see how it goes

Can you turn it off while the car is running?
If you didn't, try that and then turn off the car.

nope, the display and lights go out but the sound continues!

have disconnected battery now im home and its reset it!

I had the same problem. It was the Blue and me that caused it, I received a call just as I turned the car off.

Just make a call via the Blue and me and all will be back to normal.

It happened to me once too. Found a flat battery when I got back...
