My gearbox is terrible when cold! (Bravo 165t derv 6 speed.)
I mean to the point where i have to drive it into gear, it can give a little notch or grind on normal changes, yes I'm not exaggerating its to the point where now i double declutch through 1st,2nd,3rd when cold,
also the clutch is great works fine, no slipping fully disengages
Any ideas? should i take it back? or my friend at fiat maybe suggested "Molly Slipping" it with some additives to see if that helps.
Next question is does anyone know the rating or grade of Gearbox oil that goes in? I would love to get some Mobil 1 fully synthetic gear oil in as i know it will solve it (did before in other boxes).

If any one knows they'll be a great help, also if we find the grade type etc I'll do a before and after test thread with Mobil gear oil to help others :D

Probably gear linkage cables that need lubricating, seems a fairly regular complaint on the 6 speed gearboxes, usually in the cold. Some also freeze up when water gets in the linkages & freezes.

As is often the case when something gets stiff, abit of lube works wonders ;)

No Deffo not that, i had that issue with the Punto, but WD40 sorted that, stopped water getting in.

So if someone gets me the lube specs or even tell's of an older car that the box was fitted to i can Try some Mobil fully synthetic (has stabilisers in that make it roughly the same viscosity hot or cold)

My 2nd and 3rd gear crunch sometimes. I'd like to resolve this issue too.

Does my head in!
So if we find the oil ratings/type I'll do a before and after test and wright a report which will help fix a Lotta 6 speeders. :D

Ive no idea then i'm afraid. The only issue i've heard of regarding Bravo gearboxes is the linkage one, so i'm at a loss now :(

It'd be nice if they were GM boxes, least we could all slag GM abit ;)

Looking into Alfa sites at gearboxes they use GL4/5. wonder if they are the same box? They use JTD engines

Castrol Syntrans gear oil has solved this completely!
Tried MOLLYSLIP but no better,
Drained the old and put in 75w90 syntrans, designed to cure this problem and totally has!
No more sticky synchros no more holding gears,
Just feels as good cold as hot.
:D

So no more stiff knob for you?

Seriously, how often can you say that to a guy and not be taking **** out of his (lack of) sexual prowess?
