Just picked up a year old 1.6 Dynamic and noticed something odd with the climate control. When on full auto the air con/compressor LED and symbol are always displayed, even though it is colder outside than the temp set inside (eg 2 degrees outside, 18 set inside). I was expecting the light/symbol to go off when no cooling needed.

Can any other owners confirm whether their climate works the same way before I go for a warranty fix?

I think thats right m8 you just want it on "auto" for now

It takes a bit to understand what happens with all the buttons, only got mine thursday

you dont need the conditioning for now except when you stick it on max for the front window to clear

Yes , that's the way mine behaves as well - it's perfectly normal and shows that the aircon is availble to the climate control system if it needs it.
If it's on full auto the aircon button and symbol will illuminate. It won't put much extra load on the engine at all in cold weather as it's not really doing anything but it will help to clear condensation off your windows.

Just press the aircon button and it will disable that side of the system though as Hellcat says , it's worth running it with aircon on for a while every couple of weeks. There are seals in the system that can dry out and leak if it's left off all the time - the refrigerant also contains some lubricant that helps keep them in good order.

Thanks Doc - that's exactly the info I wanted. I guess I'll let it do its thing....somewhat confusing after an analogue system were you just twiddled a few knobs!
