Hi there, yes there should be a gasket between the coolant pump housing and the cylinder block. There's also an O-ring seal betwen the pump itself and the housing.

Re: Jtd 105

they sold you a pump without a gasket, thats what you get for going to fiat. your local motor factors would have told you that a gasket is needed. and they would have charged less. lesson learnt?

There's no gasket on the water pump, just the O-ring around it..

You got the new cambelt tensioners too? Don't change the belt without the tensioners.

Re: Jtd 105

its just another of the many things the timing belt goes around, i know some alfas that apparently have been known to suffer timing belt contamination or premature wear when the roller isnt changed with the timing belt. im not sure if the JTD engines have the same issue but its always worth while checking the conditon of all parts when you do a belt change and replace anything that looks overly worn. for example sometimes tensioners are still in great condition when you do the first belt change and dont really need doing till the second change, and its the same with any roller, and the water pump. i know people will shout at me for saying it but its true. you have to assess the conditon of the car when you do the job, unless you like the better safe than sorry approach in whihc case replace the whole lot. its up to the individual owner, i only changed my belt recently at 60k because everything else seems perfect and unlikely to need changing anytime soon.

Re: Jtd 105

A lot of it is to do with if you know the history of the car. I always change cambelt within a month of buying so I know where I'm coming from. They're driven quite hard so will get a belt change at about 50k after purchase.
