car is going in tomorrow for cambelt change and a service. I am also getting the water pump replaced.

I have been really paranoid about my cambelt snapping. It has only done 47k but I dont think it has had one before so be glad to get it done :)

Also is getting a decent service. It has been sounding a little rough. Hopefully it will be like new :D

will let you know how i get on (y)

I changed my cambelt and water pump as soon as i got the car in Febuary. The car only had 17k on the clock but the car is nearly 5 yrs old.

after a long day in birmingham the car runs like new :)

Cambelt and other belts changed, waterpump changed. couple of new bulbs, which i was aware of and "hadnt got round" to changing. My rear wash-wipe works. It hasnt worked since i got the car :D All seriviced up. And no more clicky noise :D so i reckon it was the water pump making that. It also had an ever so slight misfire. i think the new sparks sorted that out.

Paul did tell me that my break pad and discs need changing within the next few thousand miles. will get that done when the mot is due in august.

Cheers motormech. great job (y)

You paid to get bulbs changed?

I was thinking the same thing!

We change bulbs for free at our place, bulb replacement comes as part of the service if its required :)

Ah right, it's just I pay for the parts and labour that goes into the service as opposed to a flat rate price - both the dealership and independent garages round here work that way :) A flat rate price sure would have been handy at last service time when the car needed £300 work on top of the basics!

Hi Sammiboo,

quote: "...no more clicky noise so i reckon it was the water pump making that...."

When you say "clicky noise" do you reckon it sounded like "tappets" on a brava ?

I was just wondering if the noise I am hearing from the engine bay is actually the water pump rather than tappets. When I start the brava from cold (say in the morning), it sounds quite loud like da-da-da first, then probably tic-tic-tic after driving for a minute or two. The temps looks perfectly ok.

Also where about in Brum is this garage ?

Cheers.

I`m going to get my cambelt & tensioner changed+a service just for peace of mind within the next couple of weeks.
2 Q`s
is it best to change the waterpump when you do the cambelt?
is it the same for a JTD?

phoned motormech in birmingham just for the cambelt kit and fitting without the waterpump and was quoted £435....been reading here that its supposed to be the best and cheapest place around....am i missing somthing???
