Hi All

Have A Bravo 1.8 16 V

Its Been On The Drive For A Month, starting Couple Of Time A Week Just To Clear It Out.

Went To Drive It Other Day And Cant Get Any Gears, the Clutch Pedle Drops When Pressed And Springs Back Up Again But Dosnt Feel Like There Is Much Resistence To It.tried The Handbrake Off And There Is No Warning Light As Some Have Said.

If You Try To Force It Into Gear You Get The Grinding Sound From The Clutch So Hoping Its Not That.

Just Out Of Interest Any Other Ppl Had Seat Weilding Probles. Been Throu 2 Seats Allready Only Had It A Year.

Great Car Thou...

Thanks

Thanks For Reply

Yes Was Working Like A Dream Before I Parked It For A While

sounds like your Clutch Slave Cylinder has gone, it happened in mine and cost me £150 to get done by Fiat.

Itd probably be about £80 for a normal garage.

As for the seats, they're fine in mine....

thanks for reply

yeah been hearing a lot about the slave cylinder there is a little bit of oil on the clutch casing.. so u rekkon could be fixed for bout 100 quid

also been told it could be the clutch has seized from sitting for to long!!!!
and clue as to fixing this problem if it is or is it a garage job

cheers

also when the clutch is pressed in and out the slave cylinder dosnt move at all....just found out where it is and starting to think that can only be the problem.
can anyone just confirm...

thanks

try having a look at your clutch slave cylinder. its under your battery, ontop of the gearbox. have a good look around that as it could be leaking and therefor have no clutch (hydraulic only on the bravo) if it is this then its a simple enough swap.

if you cant see very well with the battery in you can take it, and the battery tray out in a couple of mins with a 13mm socet and extension bar (small) four or five bolts down the wing and its off mate, have a good nosey around it and see the score

hth

thanks for your replys

looked a the slave cylinder and there is some oil all around the rubber..
also when the clutch is pushed in and out the cylinder does nothing..
you rekkon thats gotta be the problem..reading that there not that expensive and not that hard to remove and refit...just be worried about bleeding it cus i aint to petrol head...
but thanks for all your help

it could well be if nothing is happening when you try using te clutch, have a look at your brake / clutch fluid levels to see how much there is, both while doing nothing, but also when using the clutch (someone to help) if you can do this with the batt and tray out it will be a whole lt easier to see whats haoppening. bleading the breaks isnt that hard (not that ive done it yet  )

just pop it in second and then try to start the car. it will jerk forward. now take it out of second and start car. hey presto clutch works. this happens to lots of cars when they sit for a while and this almost always cures it, but be prepared for the car to lurch forward violently.
