Was lucky enough to have survived the accident.

travelling at 80mph on a motorway when the bonnet on my bravo hit the windowscreen and caused damage.

i now have a totally useless scrap bonnet, it also smashed the sunroof foward so it wont close, and also left dints at either side of the sunroof.

How much does a new bonnet cost, how much will the tottal cost be for new sunroof and dints taken out aswell as resray on bonnet.

should i bother claiming through insurance??

Has the roof been bent, or just dented? I've seen a Coupe where the same happened, and the front of the roof was 3" lower. If it's just dented, then I'd claim on insurance. If it's bent the roof, I'd imagine it would be a write-off, as it's structural.

Oh my God! That's awfull!

The important is that noone was injured... (y)

The last days, all i am reading at this forum is about bonnets!?!
I am going right away to check my bonnet clip..

Yep my Bravo was about ready to do the same. I popped the bonnet to check the water and the bonnet came straight up without needing to release the safety catch.

Just one jolt on the move is all it would take to release the bonnet and it would have been straight off

Looking at the release hook then it was just stiff on the pivot and needed some lub. It's a pretty weak return spring on it so it doesn't take much to jam the works

Check your safety catches guys and make sure they're moving freely. They jam up this time of year as it's so dry and perhaps less inviting to open the bonnet

well ive decided to not claim through insurance as i can afford to pay for the dmaage. its just a new bonnet, new sunroof and mechanism and dints taken out of the roof. theyre just dints at either side of the sunroof. big job on a whole but atleast its fixable. going to cost alot for sunroof i think
