i know its rubbish but believe one of those vari-pots resistors will give a couple of bhp. i also know its bad for the cat, but my 1999 bravo 100hlx has served me well over 5yrs and the cat is bust anyway, so before i sell on for hopefully a 20v turbo coupe, (plus i mite sell my wee barchetta to and go for 2l hgt for a everyday car), id like to fit this item. so can anyone tell me which wires i need to cut to place this resistor pot in. cheers all
 
but surely if u run the car richer and throw on a free flowing air filter this must help. cause a free flowing filter on its on doesnt really help cause u lose some low-mid range due to lack of fuel/air ratio
 
besides any advantage, or not as the case may be that this product may/may not give.......why is there such strong opposition to it? when all i ask is for someone to tell me what the four wires relate to in terms of the air temp/mas air flow meter.
Sorry guys for sounding cheeky but its a simple enough question, on which i may base my own conclusions of the product i wish to install.

The ECU constantly adjusts the AFR. It decides how much fuel to use depending on what various sensors says. If they are showing the correct AFR then all the sensors agree. If one sensor is constantly reading wrong (like if u wire in a resistor) then the ECU will decide it is faulty and just ignore the sensor. You leave your engine without one of its sensors, and is now slower to adjust the AFR.

If you fit a freeflow air filter, the ECU will detect the mixture is too lean probably using the lambda, or detect more air coming in (using the MAF) and adjust the fueling to suit.

I see you're point about wanting the question answered - i don't have a bravo, so can't help too much. But if you have a gander through the haynes manual and find the wires for the air inlet temperature sensor. Or have a look around near yours air intake for the wires
 
thanks arc. i jus tryin to satisfy my curioisty. mainly due to the fact that in cold mornings the car performs better. i know colder air is denser, but i was assuming the MAF detects volume not necessarily density, basically thinking that the resistor pot if adusted slighty could improves perforamce somewhere along, as the lamba sensor detecting emmissions will have a tolerance band. so getting tho the edge of the upper tolerance wouldnt affect the fuelling as such. ie it wud accept the increase in mixture was still in the set boundries..................if that makes sense to anyone?????!!!!
