I've used Angel Tuning for a remap on a previous car and was mightily impressed. The car was a Punto JTD though so much more scope for power increase and more noticeable gain.

Looking on their website, they quote a 12bhp and 14 ft/lb torque increase on the 2.0l 20v engine. Not massive figures (and probably somewhat exaggerated?) but what I'm more interested in is a better throttle response and hopefully to get rid of the 6000rpm flatspot.

Anyone any experience of an angel tuning remap on a bravo HGT?

That thread just looks like a bunch of grumpy old men having a moan when the company in question offers you a valid excuse and offers to rectify the problem for free.

There are loads of companies out there that buy off the shelf maps and sell them. Angel being one of them. By posting I was hoping to get some opinions on members who have had a 2.0 20v VIS mapped. Seems there are none on here any more...

The car is standard so a custom map isn't needed. I have no additional mods to be accounted for. A premade map on a standard car would likely suit my needs fine.

Theres a member on FCCUK who does custom maps. He seems to be managing 14-16hp increases on VIS bravos and coupes. Angel's claims don't seem so over exaggerated actually.

Well looking at the final post in that thread, It's hardly conclusive.

The initial run print out with the 3 comparisons shows that the final run with the new map on it improved the torque and BHP figures.

Your later run is on a different dyno (i'm presuming) and compares it to nothing. It also doesnt state whether either printout is at the wheel figures or the estimated engine figure, and even then, (as angel tuning point out in that thread) different dynos estimate the transmission loss differently, and no dyno will be calibrated to give an estimate for a specific car, just a general % loss, hence why figures vary wildly for all makes and models of cars on different dynos. You can't compare the first print out to the second without running the same tests. You may have found that the second dyno would have reported lower figures if you had removed the map and ran another test.

do you not think it strange that he wouldnt rr it with the original remap file on it first but instead fixed it so it went into learn mode when he reinstalled it?
the 2nd rr shows the first map he put on compared with the new one

there thread got locked because its boring. you wouldnt pay some one 200-300 quid to change a wheel so why do it for a off the shelf map when all the info to diy it is now out there for everyone.

I'm saying no more on this thread i was just trying to stop you getting ripped off, but if you want to go and waste your money go ahead.
