Im going far down the DIY road, trying to fix my ebay purchase on a shoe string ! :p

its a bravo 100 hlx JTD 2001

Invested in a VAG-COM cable, arrived today. Downloaded the free version of Fiatecuscan ! and away I went. I go these fault codes, but didnt write down properly , which ones were "stored" which ones were "no signal" But wrote info an sum of the others, here they are.........

p0404 Egr something.....

p0215 diesel something...(again didnt have time to get it completely sorry lol )

p1612 fuel filter heater relay.........

p0101 MAF...............signal low ?

p0704 clutch signal something ( was recently replaced by last owner, maybe did recoonect or summat ?)

p0110 Air Temp sensor / signal high ?

p0236 overboost signal ( light on) But there isnt any light on ? ( maybe the pipe that i cant find a home for, or a massive leak)

u1600 immobiliser key faulty, light on ? ( maybe to do with the aftermarket alarm ??? )


I guess one has to very carefully interpret these codes as, even thou the car has had only one owner, I was told its previous owner used it a show car, and did a lot of modding, so theres lots of rewireing it looks like, plus the engine change from an 03 , merea engine. So I cant rule out somethings were not done correctly, or replaced. Also dont know how old these are ????
Or if there false positives.

Ive had nothing but brilliant help from this forum, even made me donate a few quid lol, and I dont even give to charity mmwwwhahahahaahaha.


Just some other info that may mean something.

Bought car ! no power at 1st max revs 4-4.500 after 3.000 max, quite a bit of black smoke , but not when idling, unburnt fuel smoke me thinks. Also brakes at front not working at all ? was told after deffo not seized, something else ???
Take car to one garage, dont seem to interested, tell me its the turbo ( they think ? ) Take it to another, muppet ! being desperate, he checks turbo ! its fine ! no vaccum to wastegate. collect car after a few days. Now it wont start !!!
It catches once in about ten or more trys, but dont rev and cuts straight out ? then wont catch again, its getting fuel for sure !

Im dying here, had the car over a week, and havent managed to even drive it more than a few miles......waaaaaaaaaa !!!

Really am at the point of crying, no wait im past that, that was the feeling last week, ive pretty much died inside, there no tears to cry. lol . over dramatic ? noooooo


Some news , I put it on the diagnostic again this morning, after having attempted to start it, And I have all the error codes again ! I did delete them before, so they must be relevant to the problem.
they are again as follows.........


p0404 / EGR / Invalid signal

p0215/ Diesel pump / no signal

p1612/ Fuel filter heater relay / no signal

p0101/ MAF / signal low

p0704 / clutch signal / invalid signal

p0236 /overboost valve / no signal / light on

u1600 /immobiliser ; key faulty / light on

p0235 /supercharging pressure / light on


I know I can probably rule a couple of these out, and i know you said most wont stop the car starting.
Im still not sure if the u1600 means anything, because while sat in the car, messing round with the alarm, with the key in the ignition, and just trying different things, at one point the code light wouldnt go out, but i just turned the key to off, then back on, and it went out, this happen twice, and both times, just turning off and oon again sorting it ! so maybe thats the fault it recorded !!!???

Could really do with an expert or experienced opinion as to whether something else could be causing all the codes, battery ????

I can like i say account for some ov em , but the rest i avent got a clue !!!
 
The Marea engine is slightly different to the Bravo JTD engine. Do you know if the Marea ECU was swapped aswell?

I'll try help as much as I can...

p0404 / EGR / Invalid signal

Check the plug on the EGR valve. Found at the rear of the engine on the right hand side.

p0215/ Diesel pump / no signal

Not sure on this, but it could be that the immobilisor had been bypassed, as the fuel pump is coded to the ECU.

p1612/ Fuel filter heater relay / no signal

Glow plug relay fault or wiring fault. Or one or more of the four glow plugs have burnt out. Test.

p0101/ MAF / signal low
Maf sensors on the JTD are quite common to slowly failing, check the connections and if your car is struggling to go beyond 3000rpms replace the sensor.

p0704 / clutch signal / invalid signal

Not sure on this one, but defiantely something to do with a dodgy engine change.

p0236 /overboost valve / no signal / light on

I think there are two overboost valves on the JTD, one at the rear of the engine and another near the battery tray. The red pipes not being connected from the turbo maybe causing this error rather than the sensor being faulty. Also check the connections to the sensor.

u1600 /immobiliser ; key faulty / light on

Probably due to bypassing the immobilisor. Or a fault with the receiver around the ignition barrell.

p0235 /supercharging pressure / light on

This could be a result in the overboost sensor not working correctly.
