Hi Folks

Does anyone know how to remove the tweeter covers in the dash of the mk1 1.8hlx? I used to have a mk2 1.6hlx (sadly died in accident, r.i.p.) and they just prized off with a butterknife, but these ones feel a bit more solid. Any ideas? TIA.

While im here, are all the other speakers the same size / fitment as the mk2? I'm going to order some adapters for the doors tomorrow and it would be nice to make sure beforehand. Got some infinity components to swap in, and ordering a sub next week... just found out that the last owner kindly left a phono cable running to the boot which helps matters :)

Brilliant, thx Joske. Do you know if there's any crossovers in the bravo, or are the speakers all running full frequency signals?

If there are existing crossovers then I could just replace them with the new ones and nick the existing wiring. I remember in the other Bravo I had that the wiring loom through the door was complicated and didn't have much room for another wire

No crossovers as standard. I fitted new tweeters behind the door mirror and mounted the crossover box in the armrest in the door card.

You can just see my tweeter in the passenger side door.

So the passenger airbags DO exist. Thought they were an urban myth.

I like what you've done with the tweeters there, solves the problem of going back through the door into the cabin again.

Nice condition on the bravo btw, I wish mine looked like that inside. I think the last owner used it to carry rolls of barbed wire :(

Cheers Joe, yeah thats one of the reasons i fitted the tweeters in the door. Whats the point of rewiring back into the car when my Infinity component speakers had all the fittings to do it all in the door. :)

Yes passenger airbags do exist, mainly in Bravo Trofeo and Bravo Formulas as standard. These are like limited editions or end of line models with some extras thrown in as standard.

That's a fair point. Which of the mounting options did you use? I'm considering the threaded - clamp one so I can angle it a bit, but it looks like alot more work to fit. I'll probably get fed up and just screw the little silver one in. The Infinity ones are domed tweeters so they don't need to point straight towards the listener anyway.

I like that its easy to replace that cover if you sell the car and remove your speakers, it means you wont leave the dash looking like it's been used as a dartboard :)
